JOB SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, designs, implements and maintains complex, scalable and robust cloud services for connected vehicle systems. Expected to provide guidance, mentoring, and on-the-job training to less experienced colleagues. Projects will support end-to-end systems involving embedded solutions, mobile applications, and scalable cloud services. Acts as a mentor to less experienced engineers.

Leads the design and development of cloud native software services that support service business requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leads the design and development of cloud native software services that support service business requirements.
• Provides input on the appropriate architectural approach for cloud native software service design and implementation.
• Defines and directs best practices and instituted policies for software development, code reviews, and testing standards.
• May, at times, be required to support incident response, troubleshooting, and problem resolution under a 24/7 support posture.
• Oversees post mortems and root cause analysis of problems following any incidents. Identifies and analyzes quality problems, determines impact and makes recommendations for improvements. Interfaces with customer in problem resolutions as necessary.
• Supports develop operations (devops) activities, occasionally, to support infrastructure architecture design, tuning, and performance optimization.
• Partners with security and compliance teams to identify, manage, document, and implement best practices and automated controls for cloud solutions.
• Performs overall structure design and development of software systems and applications to address cloud business needs. May be required to act in the Program Leaders role and perform all related activities, as defined. May act as key contact between customer and design team at DENSO headquarters.
• Creates detailed specifications of design, features and/or algorithms. May create prototypes to evaluate product concept. Provides initial approval of software coding in light of specifications and requirements.
• Defines automated testing strategies and plans, in coordination with quality assurance teams, that include considerations for unit, integration, end-to-end, load, and penetration testing.
• Reviews quality related issues and provides initial approval of recommended improvements. Identifies and implements process and product improvements, as needed. Conducts risk management analysis activities and defines and identifies potential issues or problems.
• Provides support to sales efforts by developing materials for technical review and RFQs, and preparing and delivering technical presentations to affiliates and customers on existing product(s) and/or routine issues.
• Conducts market research and benchmarking where appropriate for use at Technical Reviews. Performs patent searches, creates and submits new patent requests, researches and reviews existing patents. Stays abreast of worldwide technical trends, initiates and recommends improvements to process and/or tools where necessary.
• Analyzes current processes, systems and equipment and recommends and implements improvements. Recommends whether or not proposed changes or improvements be implemented.
• Acts as a mentor to less experienced engineers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, information systems, mathematics or related field 
• 5+ Years of Related Experience
• Extensive experience with a public cloud offering such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud as well as their supporting services including cloud compute, storage, container orchestration, and serverless compute
• Advanced knowledge and experience with a programming language suitable for microservice development (e.g. JavaScript, node.js runtime, Golang, Python, Rust)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated knowledge and application of general engineering principles and methodologies
• Advanced understanding of cloud native computing principles in areas of orchestration, containerization, continuous integration/continuous delivery, and microservices
• Advanced skills in the provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of public cloud infrastructure
• Intermediate skills in creating complex templates using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in the replication of cloud infrastructure
• Advanced abilities with Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Deployment (CD), associated tools and pipeline development
• In-depth knowledge of hardware, IoT, software, development tools, and de-bugging methods in order to develop, configure, test and de-bug software. Advanced knowledge and demonstrated competency in working with computer software and development tools in order to troubleshoot issues and extrapolate, manipulate and analyze data
• In-depth knowledge of Software Process Improvement (SPI), lifecycle models and process models 
• Comfortable performing Build vs Buy analysis
• Analytical skills to independently evaluate and develop innovative solutions to complex situations, applying knowledge of specialty area and use of sound judgment; determines when rigor is necessary and proper course of action. Plans for alternatives for unusual circumstance; assesses risk factors; modifies and adapts systems; and deviates from schedules, as necessary. Annual Salary: $141,000 – $176,000
