Role Description: 

Defense Unicorns seeks a Golang Software Engineer to work on Zarf, an open source project.  This role will work closely with fellow software engineers, and the Open Source Community within the OpenSSF.

Responsibilities: 

  • Core contributor to Open Source Tools within Defense Unicorns.
  • Develop in Golang, contributing to a team that inspires continuous improvement.
  • Work with engineers internal to the company, and within the open source community to reproduce issues and collaborate on fixes.
  • Actively participate with the open source community via Kubernetes Slack, Github Issues, and Google Groups.
  • Work closely with teammates to ensure a cohesive culture.
  • Loves to grow! Enjoys thinking critically, learning new technologies, and working with the team to cut through ambiguity.
  • Comfortable in an asynchronous, all remote environment.

Travel Expectations/Requirements:  5-15%

The listed responsibilities are not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the evolving needs of the organization. We are seeking a person who is able to adapt and take on new responsibilities as they arise.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience with software engineering.
  • Comfortable in Golang, familiarity with Rust is a plus!
  • Familiar with Kubernetes (Controllers, Operators, CRDs) 
  • Contributing to Open Source Projects such as: participating in Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Apache Software Foundation (ASF), or Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) is a huge plus!
  • Excited to assess intricate problems, propose solutions, and implement them effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working proactively, managing time efficiently, and thriving in a vibrant remote work environment!  ✨🦄

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience. Compensation ranges are established using national benchmarking data and apply across all geographic locations within the United States.
