Developer Relations
Location: Palo Alto, CA, USA
Department: Engineering
Location Type: IN_OFFICE
Employment Type: FULL_TIME
Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Community Building: Grow and nurture an active developer community around DeepInfra’s platform. Engage developers on forums, social channels, and at in-person meetups/events to foster peer-to-peer support and enthusiasm. Champion initiatives like user groups, and ambassador programs to amplify community involvement.
- Content Creation & Education: Create compelling technical content that educates developers on leveraging LLMs and DeepInfra’s services. This includes writing blog posts, how-to guides, and documentation, as well as producing demos, sample apps, and video tutorials.
- Developer Advocacy: Be the voice and advocate for developers both externally and internally. Help developers solve problems and adopt best practices with AI integration – for example, by providing guidance on model selection, prompt engineering, or optimizing inference on our platform. Simultaneously, relay feedback from the community back to our product and engineering teams to influence product improvements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams – particularly Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing – to align developer outreach with business goals. For instance, you might join a sales call with a prospect’s CTO to answer deep technical questions, making it easier to close deals. You will ensure that our go-to-market messaging resonates with developers and that DevRel activities support user acquisition and customer success.
- Event Evangelism: Serve as the technical representative of DeepInfra at conferences, webinars, and industry events. Give talks or workshops on relevant AI topics, represent us at Bay Area meetups, and network with developers to raise awareness and credibility of our platform.
- Demand Generation & Community Success: Inspire developers to build on DeepInfra. Highlight community success stories and encourage developers to share their experiences.
Qualifications & Skills
- Technical Background in AI/LLMs: Strong knowledge of Large Language Models and cloud infrastructure. You have hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks or building applications with LLMs, and you can comfortably discuss model inference, fine-tuning, RAGs, and related concepts with developers. A software engineering background (e.g. proficiency in Python or similar) is required to create demos and sample code.
- Proven Developer Advocacy or Community Experience: 2+ years in a developer-facing role (DevRel, Developer Advocate, Evangelist, or active open-source contributor/technical blogger). You have a track record of creating developer content (technical blogs, tutorials, videos) and/or giving talks or workshops to technical audiences. A meaningful online presence or community involvement (GitHub projects, conference speaking, etc.) is a strong plus.
- Excellent Communication & Teaching Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, approachable content. You’re as comfortable writing an in-depth tutorial as you are speaking to a room full of engineers. You have a passion for teaching and enabling fellow developers, and an empathetic, patient approach to answering questions.
- Community Builder Mentality: Genuine enthusiasm for helping developers succeed. You excel at engaging with developer communities – whether on Twitter/X, Slack/Discord, Stack Overflow, or in person – and you understand how to spark conversations and build trust. You listen to developers’ needs and proactively help solve their problems, embodying the “part listener, part problem-solver” ethos of DevRel.
- Self-Starter with Strategic Vision: Entrepreneurial and independent mindset – able to work with minimal supervision and chart a strategy for DevRel from scratch. Since this is the first DevRel hire, you should be comfortable defining your own goals and metrics, figuring out what needs to be done without a pre-defined playbook. Experience setting up a DevRel program or being a first/early DevRel in a startup is a big plus.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work closely with internal teams and external partners. You can collaborate with sales, marketing, and engineering.
- Bay Area Location & Travel: Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area (or willing to relocate) and able to work on-site with the team at our office. Willingness to travel occasionally for major developer events or conferences.
