Position Overview

Dealfront is excited to be experiencing a level of growth where we are seeking an Engineering Manager to join our Data team. In this role you will be responsible for managing a team of 4 driving technical excellence, promoting best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the team including all aspects of objective planning, providing technical input, monitoring execution, performance reviews etc.
  • Collaborate with product management and lead team to fulfil company goals
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders to understand their data needs and requirements.
  • Act as individual contributor to support the team’s output

Qualifications: 

  • At least 5 years experience managing technical teams, ideally within data
  • A proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Experience in Data Engineering, including working with big Data
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or comparable

Skills: 

  • Strong team management skills within a fast paced and ever changing environment.
  • Ability to recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team. Experience in building trust and encouraging ownership and accountability within the team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage team dynamics, address concerns, and provide constructive feedback in a positive, growth-oriented manner.
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflicts within the team or with external stakeholders effectively.
  • Proven experience managing resources efficiently and prioritising key projects, balancing short-term needs with long-term vision.
  • Software Engineering expertise with two of the following: Python, Rust, PHP.
  • Solid SQL and Data Analytics knowledge
  • Experience with any of: Kafka, Redis, Solr/Elasticsearch, Postgres
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases
  • Attention to detail and strong problem solving skills
  • Experience managing, monitoring and troubleshooting production grade data pipelines
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, data quality management, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and data security measures
  • Ability to present data insights and recommendations clearly and effectively
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to self educate and fill gaps in required knowledge
  • Openness to feedback and ability to adapt to changing circumstances
