Description
Summary:We are looking for an experienced iOS Principal Engineer with a strong technical background and expertise in building high-performance video streaming applications for iOS Mobile and Apple TV platforms. As a technical leader, you will take ownership of designing and developing scalable, user-centric applications while mentoring team members and driving technical excellence.
This role requires a deep understanding of iOS frameworks, exceptional coding skills, and hands-on experience with video streaming technologies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless and engaging video experiences to users. You will lead cutting-edge projects and shape the technical roadmap for iOS development.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1. Design & Development
- · Architect and develop advanced video streaming applications for iOS Mobile and Apple TV platforms.
- · Write clean, modular, and maintainable code in Swift, following best practices.
- · Optimize app performance for responsiveness, scalability, and resource efficiency.
- 2. Technical Leadership
- · Lead the design and implementation of complex features, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with project goals.
- · Conduct code reviews to ensure best practices in coding, architecture, and security.
- · Stay updated with the latest iOS technologies and video streaming advancements, integrating them into projects where applicable.
- 3. Collaboration
- · Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- · Collaborate with QA to ensure that delivered features meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- 4. Video Streaming Expertise
- · Implement and optimize video streaming technologies such as HLS, DASH, and DRM.
- · Integrate and customize video playback frameworks like AVFoundation and third-party players.
- · Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to playback, buffering, and content delivery.
- 5. Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing
- · Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- · Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops to elevate the team’s technical skills.
- 6. Release Management
- · Collaborate on release planning and ensure smooth deployment cycles.
- · Support the team during critical deadlines, providing solutions to unblock progress
Qualifications & Skills
- Educational Background:
- · Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- Experience:
- · 8 to 12 years of experience in iOS development, with a strong focus on video streaming applications.
- · Proven experience delivering high-quality apps for iOS Mobile and Apple TV.
- Technical Skills:
- · Proficiency in Swift and Objective-C.
- · Strong understanding of iOS frameworks like UIKit, SwiftUI, and Core Data.
- · Deep knowledge of AVFoundation, HLS, DRM, and adaptive streaming technologies.
- · Experience with API integration using REST or GraphQL.
- · Expertise in optimizing video playback performance and troubleshooting streaming-related issues.
- · Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks for iOS.
- Soft Skills:
- · Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- · Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- · Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and thrive under tight deadlines.
- Additional Requirements:
- · Experience with tv OS development and Apple TV-specific design guidelines.
- · Familiarity with third-party video SDKs and analytics tools.
- · Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
- · Flexibility to stretch working hours as needed to meet release timelines.
- · Strong documentation skills with attention to detail.
