Senior SQL Developer

Location: Viman Nagar – Pune, Maharashtra, Pune

The SQL Developer will play a key role in supporting the Long Term Care (LTC) insurance rate increase process, working closely with actuarial and regulatory stakeholders. The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing data solutions that support actuarial analysis, experience studies, rate filings, and regulatory responses. The developer will ensure data accuracy, traceability, auditability, and performance across systems used in long‑duration insurance analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Long Term Care & Actuarial Data Support
  • Support data preparation and analysis for LTC rate increase filings, including policy, premium, claims, and exposure data.
  • Partner with actuarial teams to translate actuarial requirements into scalable SQL solutions.
  • Develop and maintain data extracts used in experience studies, projection models, assumption reviews, and regulatory exhibits and schedules.
  • Ensure data lineage, reconciliation, and auditability for all rate‑related outputs.
  • Support iterative regulatory requests and objections by rapidly producing revised datasets.
Long Term Care & Actuarial Data Support 
  • Support data preparation and analysis for LTC rate increase filings, including policy, premium, claims, and exposure data. 
  • Partner with actuarial teams to translate actuarial requirements into scalable SQL solutions. 
  • Develop and maintain data extracts used in experience studies, projection models, assumption reviews, and regulatory exhibits and schedules.
  • Ensure data lineage, reconciliation, and auditability for all rate‑related outputs.
  • Support iterative regulatory requests and objections by rapidly producing revised datasets 
  • Support critical filing timelines and respond to time‑sensitive actuarial and regulatory data requests.  
Back-End Database Infrastructure 
  • Design stored procedures and data models optimized for long‑duration insurance data. 
  • Manage large historical datasets with a focus on performance, accuracy, and repeatability.
  • Implement controls to support actuarial sign‑off, reconciliation, and regulatory review.  
Data Conversion and Data Migration 
  • Integrate and normalize data from policy administration systems, claims systems, and actuarial source files. 
  • Support legacy data structures commonly found in LTC blocks. 
  • Assist with mapping and validation of data used in actuarial models.
Documentation 
  • Write technical documentation in support of assigned projects 
  • Document all code using format established by the project  
Communication 
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships and communication with the team, other co-workers, management, clients and vendors

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or a related field
  • Experience supporting actuarial, pricing, or financial reporting teams preferred Three to five years’ SQL Developer experience Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and coach
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work individually and as a team player
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
  • Ability to understand and validate actuarial data requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with regulated, highly scrutinized data
  • Ability to explain technical data outputs to non‑technical actuarial and business users
  • Ability to work remotely with limited interaction with fellow team members
  • Ability to learn and work with third party software vendors and/or systems
  • Experience with SQL-ANSI-standard, SQL Server SSIS
  • Experience producing repeatable, auditable datasets
  • Advanced Excel skills for collaboration with actuarial and regulatory teams
  • Optional - Experience insurance financial analytics
