As a Software Engineer III, Backend you will be joining the Alert Generation & Enrichment engineering team which is part of Dataminr's AI Platform organization. The team builds cutting-edge distributed platforms that ingest and orchestrate real time AI processing for hundreds of millions of messages per day.

In your day to day you will be working on delivering features and toolings for an incredibly modern, distributed platform written in Java, Scala and Python while partnering with AI research scientists and engineers to bring innovative, applied AI research into production, at a very large scale . This US-based role can be remote or based out of our New York City office.

The opportunity

• Contribute code to production systems from the get-go.

• Share responsibility for several microservices and design significant features that impact multiple services.

• Influence the next iterations of our platform architecture as we strive to process more data and AI integrations in near real time latency 

• Implement industry best practices along with novel patterns and technologies that will help improve the codebase and the product.

• Collaborate with a multinational team of AI researchers, scientists, product managers, and engineers to deliver innovative tools and products

• 4+ years of experience building back end services and applications

• Experience with Java, Scala, Python and/or other object oriented programming languages

• Experience working with microservices, distributed systems, real time streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, etc) and databases (Postgres, Redis, Aerospike, etc)

• Strong object-oriented design, API design, data modeling, and coding skills
  Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms

• Proven track record of implementing and following strong engineering practices through hands-on coding

• Excellent problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills

The base salary range for this position is $135,000 - 165,000. Actual salary will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.

In addition to the benefits set forth above, the compensation package for this role also includes an annual discretionary bonus.
