About the role

Based in Wellington, this is a senior market-facing leadership role responsible for growing and leading Datacom's Cybersecurity Advisory & Governance practice across New Zealand.

You will act as a trusted advisor to executives, CIOs, CISOs and risk leaders, helping organisations understand cyber risk, define security strategies, strengthen governance and resilience, and translate priorities into practical programmes of work.

This role combines executive customer engagement, consulting leadership, commercial accountability and people leadership. • Lead strategic conversations on cybersecurity governance, enterprise risk, resilience and security transformation.
  • Help customers translate cyber risk, regulatory obligations and business priorities into clear investment and delivery roadmaps.
  • Own the growth and commercial performance of the Cybersecurity Advisory & Governance portfolio.
  • Shape strategic opportunities, executive proposals and major customer engagements.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of cybersecurity consultants and advisory specialists.
  • Build repeatable advisory services, frameworks and methodologies that deliver measurable customer outcomes.
  • Partner across Datacom's broader cybersecurity capability to help customers move from strategy through to implementation and ongoing security operations.
  • Represent Datacom at executive forums, customer events and industry engagements, contributing to thought leadership and market presence.

What you will bring

  • Significant leadership experience across cybersecurity, technology, risk, consulting or professional services.
  • Proven experience building credibility and influence with executive stakeholders and senior customer leaders.
  • Deep expertise in cybersecurity strategy, governance, risk management, resilience and security transformation.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience growing customer relationships, consulting engagements or advisory practices.
  • The ability to translate complex cybersecurity and risk issues into practical business outcomes and investment decisions.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing consulting or cybersecurity teams.
  • Outstanding communication, facilitation and executive presentation skills.
  • A relevant qualification or equivalent professional experience in cybersecurity, technology, risk or business leadership.
  • Desirable: experience as a CISO, Deputy CISO, Cybersecurity Practice Leader or senior consulting leader, together with industry-recognised security or risk certifications.
