Job context
Damen Song Cam Shipyard Co., Ltd is a joint venture between Damen Shipyards Group in the Netherlands (70%) and Song Cam Shipyard (30%), member of SBIC and based in Haiphong, Vietnam. At a 42 hectares site just outside Haiphong, Damen Song Cam is a strategic and preferred production location within the Damen Shipyards Group to produce tugboats and work-boats. At the moment, the shipyard is a dedicated outfitting shipyard, outfitting, commissioning and delivering approx. 40 vessels per year to clients worldwide. At a later stage Damen Song Cam will further increase its production facilities to deliver approx. 80 vessels a year and will start to produce some of the hulls which are currently sub-contracted to other yards.
Damen Song Cam Engineering (DSCS-E) Department is responsible for providing detailed engineering and standards services for all Damen projects and delivering high quality production information and support to shipyards worldwide, in time and within budget.
The Engineering Departments consists of two main Groups: DSCS Team and Team Specials.
The DSCS Team is responsible to engineer and assist the Damen Song Cam Shipyard in building efficiently Damen’s Standard products, while the Team Specials is assigned to execute One-Off, First of Series and Special projects.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB

Participation in development of basic design and detailed engineering for new, modified and standard vessels, floating structures within the budget and in a timely manner.
Work on a broad variety of tasks in the field of Electrical, Automation Engineering and Ra-dio/Navigation Engineering, contribute to the engineering process by developing the required deliverables, such as specification documents, functional descriptions, schematic drawings and test/validation plans; perform the required technical calculations to prove the design, participation in tests and trials as well as commissioning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACTIVITIES

Engineering

- Cable trays, cable strips job for basic and detail (on 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawing, Cadmatic).
- Receive the E-package from DSGo, check and feedback base on the real working condition, the detail is not clear or need to revise, modify.
- Make the arrangement drawing of electrical equipment on board (include the panels, electrical components).
- Give advice relate to electrical issue to other engineering team for design.
- Make the sketch, modification proposal drawing and send to DSGo.
- Make the basic and detail drawing relate to electrical job.

Production Support

- Distribution E-package, receive the information, questions from production, QC, Materials team and relate departments, solve or feedback to DSGo.
- Communication with other departments, third parties, suppliers to solve any issue relate to production.
- Make the protocol relate to the FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), HAT (Harbor Acceptance Test), SAT (Sea Acceptance Trial). Follow the commissioning and sea trial process, take action immediately if any mismatch between drawing and real condition.
- Participate with the production meeting.

Other activities

- Make improvement if any to save the working time, improve the quality and give feedback to the team of DSGo.
- Help with training the non-electric engineer and new engineers.
- Performs planned tasks strictly within the budget and in specified terms.
- Provides report on performed tasks according to applicable instructions.
- Carries out designer supervision and, if necessary, technical support on a shipyard, works in the office of the Customer.
- Communication with the partners under guidance and participates in meetings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Higher education technical
Qualification in Electrical/Marine Engineering
Good written and verbal English

Experience

2-5 years of experience in Engineering
