Job Summary

This applied technology role is responsible for developing and delivering embedded software that is sold as an integral part of Cummins products. The role involves understanding stakeholder and system requirements, contributing to software specifications, and owning the design, integration, testing, release, and quality of AUTOSAR-based embedded software solutions. The position operates as a recognized technical specialist within the team, delivering independently while collaborating across global product, software, and architecture teams to ensure robust, high-quality software that meets Cummins’ product, platform, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform AUTOSAR BSW integration and support full end-to-end software build activities across product platforms.
  • Configure and integrate AUTOSAR stack and BSW modules (e.g., COM, DCM, DEM, NvM) using industry-standard tools such as DaVinci Configurator / Developer and EB Tresos, including SIP integration activities.
  • Analyze, debug, and resolve software integration issues, including build failures, RTE runtime errors, and system-level failures.
  • Perform stack analysis, timing analysis, and advanced debugging using Trace32 and related timing analysis tools.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain automation scripts using Python and Groovy to support build, integration, and test activities.
  • Support and improve continuous integration (CI) and automated build pipelines to enhance software quality and delivery efficiency.
  • Investigate product software problems, identify causal mechanisms, recommend corrective actions, and own problem resolution through closure with appropriate documentation.
  • Apply and continuously improve software development processes and tools, including coding, compiling, testing, static analysis, and integration workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with application software, BSW, architecture, project, and product teams across business units to deliver verified software builds and components.
  • Ensure compliance with project governance, quality standards, and process frameworks, including ASPICE and Cummins software development practices.
  • Review and provide technical guidance on work performed by less-experienced engineers or testers to ensure robust, reusable, and efficient software designs.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex components or smaller projects with moderate ambiguity, maintaining full accountability for deliverables.
  • Contribute to the improvement of work processes and systems within the function or across global business units.
  • Support knowledge transfer and mentoring of technicians, early-career engineers, and student employees.
  • Influence technical direction within project teams through systems thinking, requirements understanding, and design decision-making.
  • Operate as a recognized specialist within the immediate team or product area.
