Summary

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for the workload management, wellbeing, and professional growth of the engineers on your team. You’ll help foster an open and collaborative environment and support systems to help your team succeed.

You will be leading the Data Layer team within the UI Framework Engineering, which is at the heart of the architecture of the data layer powering our front end systems. 

The data layer team is responsible for architecting, designing and maintaining the data layer framework agnostic library handling data retrieval, storage, and sync with the back end systems. A key aspect is partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless integration of data-related features in the product and enable front end developers to focus on building application logic rather than dealing with low-level details.

What you’ll do

  • Lead a team of engineers building the data layer core libraries for fetching and mocking the data using TypeScript packages and interfacing with an API system similar to GraphQL

  • Manage team workload, project resourcing & coordination in a fast-paced, highly distributed environment

  • Support wellbeing of team members - providing support & guidance focused primarily on resourcing, progress, and soft skills

  • Gather feedback from others, provide coaching as needed & in collaboration with senior engineers to advance team member skill sets

  • Build a team - leading and coordinating recruitment process from initial contact to offer

  • Maintain visibility into the product roadmap and share that information back to other managers and team members

  • Participate in team activities, such as roadmap planning, to prioritize projects on the roadmap based on availability of humans to do the work and business objectives that need to be met

  • Have fun solving difficult problems

What you’ll need

  • Strong engineering track-record focusing on front-end development & technologies (JS/TS/CSS/HTML) and modern frameworks and approaches

  • Experience with front end frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue and Ember

  • A good understanding of Cloud Technologies and end to end delivery of data intensive SaaS products

  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written formats

  • Comfortable providing presentations and recommendations to stakeholder management

  • Being an advocate UX consistency, accessibility and empathy for the end user

  • Experience mentoring & supporting people and teams with empathy & professionalism

  • Experience working with Product Managers and UX Designers for requirement analysis and driving the engineering team to come up with solution approach and design for delivering the requirements

  • Experience planning, tracking, delivering and managing multiple projects

Bonus Points

  • Knowledge of and experience with cybersecurity
