Cricut is seeking experienced and versatile manufacturing Process Engineer to join our Global Quality Engineering team in Malaysia. you will use your experience, expertise, and resourcefulness to identify analyse and solve problems, develop goals and objectives to meet short-term and some long-term process quality goals. The SQE will also focus on leading the Process Engineering and development during NPI projects as well as supporting the jig/fixtures validation or Work Instruction / SOP changes due to ECO execution or any product configuration changes that required a review and adjustment on manufacturing process at Contract Manufacturers (CMs). You are required to drive and work collaboratively with CMS on continuous improvements to improve the process yield or throughput of CMs production.  You should be able to drive the projects independently, represent Cricut on Process related concerns in meetings with cross-functional, project team and with contract manufacturing partners.

 

Essential Duties:

NPI phases Involvement (Concept-EVT-DVT-MP)

1) Creating and maintaining production, process and manufacturing related documents.

• Work Instruction (WI) review and approval on the CM’s manufacturing Lines, testing procedures, machine and fixtures operating documents.
• Procedures related to Manufacturing processes. Such as, testing procedures, process control and process qualification procedures (GR&R), engineering change procedures, equipment and maintenance procedures, label control procedures.
• Design the Process Flow for the overall manufacturing process.
• Drive PFMEA for the overall manufacturing process with Project team/CMs.
• Prepare the estimated budget (cost$$) for the equipment, line setup, indirect materials and etc for Projects deployment to CMs

2) Cycle time measurements

• For start of any new production line, process engineer needs to focus to gather the CT for all the processes. Based on the gathered CT, process engineer will determine number of production lines, number of equipment and fixtures needed, number of testers needed, and number of head count needed.

3) Layout

• Layout creation for the overall manufacturing process.

4) New Process qualification and Validation

• The process and equipment need to be qualified before the start of any new product manufacturing. Such as performing the GR&R, planning the pilot run, do a process capability studies, study the shift-to-shift variation in term of productivity.

5) Production Line Audit before hand over to the Sustaining Quality team (SQE)

• Drive supplier selection through robust qualification processes and assist in qualification of production line, fixtures and go-no gages at CM and supplier locations.
• Work effectively with product management, engineering, and sourcing teams to eliminate any barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of sourced components/products.

Mass Production (MP) -Postproduction phase

• Monitor and solve daily process issues with CMs.
• Monitor the statistical process control and trend for defect rates. Immediately step into the action if found major fall out and do the primary studies for the rejects before involving the related parties. Best to have the SPC implementation for the production testers.
• Continues process improvements Audit for CMs
• Find the opportunities to improve the process to achieve more productivity and reduce manufacturing costs. Such as process combination, manufacturing space utilization, head count optimization, cycle time optimization, reduce reject and scrap rates,
• Introducing new technologies that can improve the productivity, such as automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/manufacturing/EE Engineering or related technical field
• Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience in Process Engineering working at Manufacturing environment
• Good knowledge of Takt/Cycle time and Manufacturing Yield improvement effort
• Experience in consumable electronics, appliances, and knowledge in developing jig and fixtures and process equipment is essential.  
• Experience in the consumer electronics and consumable products is added advantage.
• Must have prior experience managing supplier relationships especially knowhow in Process development and process validation.
• Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Minitab and GR&R knowledge
• Strong problem solving and facilitation skills.
• Exceptional written and oral communications in English
• Strong attention to details and ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Experience in communicating with cross functional team members and suppliers.
• Must be able to be based at CMs for 80% of the working hours.
