Description

About Us

Creditstar Group is an international fintech company headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, operating across multiple European markets. We build data-driven financial products and are looking for engineers who want to have a real impact in a fast-moving environment.

Your Role

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer at Creditstar, you will take ownership of the data platform behind our analytics, reporting, and data science across our European markets. Your focus will be to raise it to the next level through solid engineering, clear governance, and standards that scale as the company grows.

Rather than working on isolated deliverables, you will shape the platform, tooling, and practices that let our BI, Analytics, and Data Science teams build on data they can trust. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, risk, and product teams, and partner with DevOps on the underlying infrastructure. You will have a high degree of autonomy, a wide range of technical problems to solve, and the freedom to make decisions in an environment that expects engineers to lead.

What You Will Own

    • Own and continuously improve Creditstar's data platform on AWS and Snowflake, keeping it reliable, performant, and scalable.
    • Strengthen platform performance, security, secrets management, and observability across the data stack.
    • Own platform cost efficiency: track and optimize Snowflake and AWS spend, and lead FinOps practices within the data team.
    • Advance data governance through clear data ownership, access and PII controls, data lineage, and audit readiness, in line with GDPR and internal policies.
    • Define and uphold engineering standards for testing, versioning, code reviews, CI/CD, and Git-based workflows across the data team.
    • Own the integration layer connecting internal and third-party data sources.
    • Lead the response to data platform incidents, seeing issues through to a durable fix.
    • Work with the DevOps team on the underlying infrastructure: setting requirements, reviewing their solutions, and making sure platform needs are met.
    • Support BI Engineers, Analysts, and Data Scientists with a well-governed, well-documented, self-serve platform.

Requirements

Experience & Expertise

    • Strong hands-on experience running and improving a cloud data platform on AWS and Snowflake.
    • A solid grasp of cloud infrastructure, security, and cost management, enough to set requirements and assess solutions alongside DevOps.
    • Practical experience with data governance, access control, and PII management.
    • Experience in a regulated setting such as finance, banking, or AML/KYC.

Collaboration & Mindset

    • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
    • A dependable, ownership-driven approach: you stay with a problem until it is resolved and does not come back.
    • Structured working style with the confidence to set standards where none exist yet.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-scaling environment.
    • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Nice to have:

  • A track record with cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices.
  • Familiarity with modern table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Our Tech Stack:

  • Cloud: AWS (EC2, EMR, MWAA, RDS, etc.)
  • Data Warehouse: Snowflake
  • Workflow & Orchestration: Airflow, DBT
  • Big Data & Processing: Spark, Docker
  • Streaming: Kafka

Benefits

  • Ownership of a data platform serving millions of customers across Europe.
  • Direct influence on data-driven products that reach millions of people.
  • Flexible working arrangements and modern office facilities.
  • Professional development, training, and conference opportunities.
  • A talented international team with a collaborative culture.
  • Company events, team-building activities, and a fun work culture.
  • A dynamic, challenging, and rewarding role in a rapidly expanding international company.

Gross salary range for this position is €6000–€7000 per month.
