Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $97,100.00 - $161,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Description:

The Senior User Interface Software Engineer will develop the next generation of user experiences for Autotrader and KBB.com. Our core tech stack consists of ReactJ/NodeJs/JavaScript, Java, on the AWS cloud computing platform.

You have strong collaboration/communication skills, as you will be a member of a scrum team consisting of other software engineers and a product owner who are intensely collaborating in a meaningful way. You are team-oriented. You provide leadership in designing solutions as well as mentoring more junior developers and collaborating with peers. 

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Actively participate in agile team activities such as providing input into story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning for solutions 
  • Participate in ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products 
  • Actively participate in the engineering community, staying up to date on new web development technologies and best practices and shares insights with others in the organization 
  • Work with Product Management to understand the challenges that our end users face and partner with UX to design viable front-end solutions 
  • Design, create, develop, and maintain dynamic user interface templates for multiple applications, complete with page-level unit testing 
  • Implement front-end frameworks to increase development speed-to-market 
  • Ensure developed code is highly performant, accessible and SEO friendly based on best practices dictated by Google Lighthouse
  • Actively work with less experienced User Interface Engineers providing technical guidance and oversight 
  • Cultivate our culture of sharing ideas, practices and solutions 

Key Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as Master's degree and 2 years' experience; P.h.d. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field.
  • 4 years of working experience designing and building highly scalable/high-volume software systems and components, client-facing web applications, and major Internet-oriented applications and systems 
  • 2+ years with one or more JavaScript SPA frameworks such as React or Angular 
    • Experience with React, Node.js and creating applications to run on AWS a plus 
  • Proficient understanding of HTML/CSS
  • Proficient at using browser developer tools to debug issues
  • Proficient in coding within front-end technology stacks and related frameworks, libraries and tools
  • Working experience with JavaScript unit tests and/or other forms of automation testing
  • Familiarity with programming paradigms such as object oriented/functional programming
  • Ability to understand and work with product teams to engineer requirements 
  • Ability to be fully accountable for design and advocacy of UI solutions 
  • Working experience with user interface design patterns, visual design elements and a UI component library
  • Working experience in web application development using responsive design 
  • Working experience in an Agile/Scrum environment

Preferred:

  • 5-8 years of working experience designing and building highly scalable/high-volume software systems and components, client-facing web applications, and major Internet-oriented applications and systems
