Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $106,800.00 - $178,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

The Senior Product Manager (Data Products) will be responsible for developing, managing and optimizing one or more data products, such as data sets and APIs. These data products are used by Data Analysts/Scientists/Product teams to produce data-driven insights that power products across the Cox Automotive landscape. The role includes but is not limited to contributing to and managing the product roadmap, overseeing the implementation and working in an agile environment with a cross-functional team to develop products that meet the needs of our consumers and clients. Recognized as an expert within the company and requires in-depth and/or breadth of expertise in Product Management along with other job disciplines within the organization to successfully manage the product. Manages small to medium-sized products.

Strategy/Discovery:                                                                                                          

  • Identifies, quantifies, and effectively communicates customer market opportunities; analyzes competitive landscape and validates solutions for future products.

  • Partners with customers to understand needs and execute on value-added work to increase richness and usability of our data products.

  • Manages more complex aspects of existing products/product lines

Planning:

  • Create and maintain product vision and roadmap. Illustrate market problems in a way that puts the problem in context. Provide relevant, timely and easily consumable updates to all internal and external audiences.

  • Create Epics and ensures it aligns across products; identify business rules and business impact; involve Product Owners to ensure delivery team is aligned to features and feature acceptance criteria; collaborate with other product managers to ensure alignment across products; participate in planning and pre/post-planning events (Demos and Inspect/Adapt).

Development:

  • Build an effective relationship between Product & Development teams.

  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Architecture and others to execute work including prototyping and testing to validate solutions.

  • Recommends and helps implement Product Management’s process improvement initiatives.

Sales & Client Engagement:

  • Engages with cross-functional stakeholders and business partners, to ensure product vision addresses:

    • Marketplace access

    • Format

    • Key features and functionality requirements, service, and support requirements

    • Key accounts and prospects

  • Collaborates cross-functionally to evaluate opportunities with a promise of positive product/product line impact.

Evaluation:

  • Measures and monitors product KPI performance, and provides strategy and roadmap input accordingly; makes end-of-life recommendations for non-performant products.

  • Evaluates customer/market/financial data, identifies emerging patterns, trends and problems, and recommends strategies and approaches for resolution.

  • Requirements Analysis – Working knowledge of and ability to elicit, analyze and document required business requirements. Engages with the customers, users, and other stakeholders to gather requirements. Utilizes appropriate methods, tools, and techniques for requirements analysis. Challenges, and manages conflicts and expectations associated with requirements analysis.

  • System and Technology Integration – Working knowledge of technology system features and facilities and the ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases, and platforms. Works with existing interfaces as well as integration and migration plans within own area and across aligned/associated areas. Explores major issues and considerations for successful system integration. Plays an active role in current and planned integration efforts.

  • Technology Savvy – Working knowledge of technology and its ability to improve work processes and results (e.g., enhance productivity, efficiency, collaboration, quality, or customer satisfaction). Skilled in using technology to solve work-related problems and create new business opportunities. Pursues opportunities to develop knowledge and experiments with emerging technology solutions that can help accomplish work goals. Serves as a resource to help others understand and anticipate the impact of technology on current processes, products, and services.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years’ experience in a related field

  • Must have data product and analytics work experience. (preferred 2 years)

  • Proficiency in writing SQL and querying data, highly desired.

  • Applies a broad knowledge of business, product performance and industry principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Working knowledge of SAFe Agile Methodology.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with a variety of different domains, including Engineering, Finance, and Business Development.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, that can be applied across a diverse set of audiences.

  • Experience in design, development and implementation of product plans.

  • Experience in full product lifecycle methodologies.

  • Experience in creating, prioritizing and recommending epics and features.

  • Experience in in conducting competitive research and analysis.

  • Experience in identifying KPI's and other analytics to measure product value.

  • Experience with executive presentations.
