Compensation includes a base salary of $97,100.00 - $161,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Cox Communication is looking for Senior Software Engineer. The ideal candidate for this role will design and implement automation solutions for development and operation teams across Cox Communications, encompassing source control, build and test automation, code quality, security, deployments, and the processes in-between.
The Enterprise Software Configuration Management team is an innovative team devoted to providing automated enterprise-grade solutions and services for Cox Communications to measure, evaluate, and plan for visible, reliable application delivery and maintenance. As a member of this team, you will work closely with various teams to create automated pipelines and solutions required for continuous delivery in an Agile DevOps environment. The tools and use-cases are diverse, and our challenge is to increase development velocity by optimizing various parts of the pipeline and increasing application stability. We operate in a blameless environment, where we focus on continuously learning.

Success Profile
Support and design application development with knowledge of DevOps best practices in an Agile environment (Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD Pipelines, Container technologies).

Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of internal tools and scripts to improve developer productivity and streamline software engineering processes.
Serve as a trusted partner, consultant, and trainer for teams on modern DevOps practices and methodologies to accelerate application delivery.
Design and set up the application delivery lifecycle (CI/CD) for various programming languages.
Deploy, support, and maintain all production services used across the company, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
Participate in the design and review of new software features, ensuring alignment with DevOps and continuous delivery principles.
Automate applications and infrastructure deployments on private and public clouds.
Research, experiment with, and implement the latest technologies and tools to enhance our mission and improve software engineering practices.
Troubleshoot and optimize CI/CD pipelines, ensuring best practices for code analysis, testing, and coverage.
Diagnose and troubleshoot cross-functional production service issues, ensuring robust monitoring and observability practices.
Lead training sessions and presentations to share best practices and technical skills across the organization, fostering a DevOps culture.
Produce automation scripts to integrate services and increase operational efficiency and maturity.
Collaborate with software development teams to integrate security into the DevOps pipeline (DevSecOps).
Provide consultation on setting up testing frameworks, quality assurance best practices, and continuous integration processes in the release pipelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years’ experience in a related field
3+ years of experience in a DevOps position or comparable engineering role.
Experience using APIs for automation between services (Python, Groovy, Java, Node.JS).
Strong experience designing and configuring CI/CD workflows to facilitate high software delivery throughput (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Gitlab, Argo).
Experience with application build tools on various languages (Maven, Gradle, NPM, SBT, Docker, Ansible, Helm, Skaffold).
Extensive experience with container orchestration and management using Kubernetes and Docker.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management (Terraform, Kustomize, Ansible, JobDSL, Jenkinsfile or similar).
Proficient and solid understanding of Git best practices and workflows.
Familiarity with strategies for high availability, disaster recovery, and deployment of production environments.
Proficient in collaboration and communication tools (Jira, Confluence) to support a DevOps culture.
Experience supporting Agile Scrum/Kanban development teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate complex problems to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work under pressure, reprioritize, and adjust to changes in direction and deadlines.
Ability to balance multiple high-priority projects and complete them on time with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years’ experience with Cloud Computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Contributes to open-source projects and/or participates in communities.
