Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $85,500.00 - $128,300.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

A successful Senior Process Engineer at Cox Automotive will use process improvement experience to quantitatively assess current production/business system performance and execute change to reduce cost and optimize capacity. 

This role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a holistic understanding of manufacturing operations. This role will focus on creative problem-solving and working cross-functionally (production, design, quality, finance, supply chain, demand, and production planning) to improve capacity, workstation design, and reduce downtime. A successful team member will have excellent critical and creative problem-solving skills focusing on issue resolution and inter-department engagement.

Job and Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on experience in the design, installation, commissioning, and ramp of high- Low - volume production lines, ensuring close collaboration with the Company's partner vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver the line in the shortest possible time and lowest possible cost.
  • Initiate and drive strategies to rapidly ramp the quality and rate of newly launched production lines to full capacity, focusing on maintaining the highest safety standards throughout the ramp duration.
  • Build on the success of existing line layouts, processes, and tooling to improve material flow, waste reduction, safety, and ergonomics by utilizing lean manufacturing best practices and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Provide leadership to cross-functional teams on manufacturing engineering topics and strive to improve the overall efficiency of the manufacturing engineering team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Extensive detailed analysis experience to make data-driven decisions and summarize results for management.
  • Perform data analysis for equipment and process buy-ins using DOEs, Gage R&Rs, and process capability studies.
  • Experience with discrete event simulation software (ARENA, Flex Sim, etc.).
  • Generate and maintain documentation, including machine and process specification, drawing, BOM, spare part, PFMEA, control plan, and process flow chart.
  • The candidate will be able to think at a systems level about the problems and provide improvements and operational strategies.
  • Identify, quantify, compare, and execute production process improvements to drive safety and ergonomics, quality (first pass yield), availability (uptime), performance (cycle time variability), capital utilization, and demand attainment.
  • Oversees and assesses existing processes and workflows.  
  • Evaluate data to implement improvements in production processes.  
  • Creation of reporting documentation for processing status and changes.  
  • Tracks metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades.  
  • Provides thorough instructions for the successful implementation of process changes.  
  • May perform other required assignments and travel 15 to 20 % as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years’ experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical skills with Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with computers and good knowledge of using Excel for data analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Just in Time (JIT) strategizing.
  • Familiarity with using Value stream mapping (VSM) and doing cycle time analysis.
  • Experience in PLC is an added advantage.
  • Proven ability to identify gaps in the system and assess and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of process engineering simulation software ( Eg: flexsim ), Visio, Lucid chart.
  • Familiarity with applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Experience in MySQL is an added advantage.

Working Environment

  • Variable, consisting of both the office environment and the manufacturing floor. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection and sanitary footwear.
