Staff Engineer SRE

About the Role:

We're in search of a Staff Engineer SRE with the passion of engineering related to sustaining Infrastructure & service reliability. This role is ideal for someone deeply passionate about automation & design. This role combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. You’ll ensure that AWS Cloud's services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally you will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.

Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation. With your technical expertise you will work on project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will assist in design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Write product or system development code.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Participate in design reviews with peers to decide amongst available technologies.
• Be the champion/lead working with the rest of the technical leaders across Coupang to define and drive the engineering roadmap.
• Contribute towards hiring and building a world class team. Mentor and coach junior engineers on the team.
• Lead and drive large scale technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
• Be able to drive collaboration effectively across organizational boundaries, be able to build strong stakeholder relationships to achieve broad organizational objectives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software development or maintenance cycle.
• Knowledge & experience on Java, Python, Unit/Linux shell scripts
• Hands-on experience on AWS, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, Elastic Search, Kafka, CI/CD, Kubernetes, etc.
• Experience in designing and running large and complex distributed systems
• Experience in designing and coding large and complex software
