Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Fulfillment and Transportation organization, the group responsible for managing order fulfillment, transportation and logistics operations, warehouse management and post-purchase customer experiences at scale. The organization powers critical customer journeys from order placement through delivery and beyond, including fulfillment orchestration, shipment visibility, transportation workflows, returns, cancellations, exchanges, and customer support experiences. As a senior software engineer, you will own critical services and business workflows, driving the design, development, and operation of scalable distributed systems. You will collaborate closely with product, operations, and engineering partners to deliver impactful solutions, while helping raise the technical bar through design reviews, mentorship, and engineering best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and deliver backend services and platforms.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable distributed systems powering related domains.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of complex engineering projects, from technical design and implementation through deployment and operational support.
• Partner with product managers, operations teams, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable and scalable technical solutions.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence through robust architecture, observability, monitoring, alerting, and failure-recovery mechanisms.
• Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to architecture decisions across team-level and cross-functional initiatives.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, operational inefficiencies, and technical debt, driving improvements that enhance customer experience and business outcomes.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to drive consistency in engineering practices, service reliability, and development standards.
• Support production operations, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• 7-10 years of backend engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices-based architectures.
• Strong experience designing, building, and operating scalable distributed systems in a cloud-native environment.
• Proven track record of delivering complex backend projects end-to-end, from technical design through production deployment and support.
• Experience building high-volume, event-driven systems using messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms.
• Solid understanding of system design fundamentals, including scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, performance optimization, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, relational and NoSQL databases, caching technologies, and asynchronous processing patterns.
• Experience identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, operational issues, and technical debt within large-scale production systems.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills with a focus on delivering reliable customer-facing solutions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to drive successful outcomes.
• Experience participating in technical design reviews, code reviews, and engineering best practices to maintain high-quality software.
• Experience working with e-commerce platforms is a plus.

 

Type of work model

• Hybrid / Onsite / Remote working

Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week, depending on the role requirement. Some businesses may require more time in office due to nature of work.
