Role Overview
As our Senior Staff Software Engineer for Coupang Ads Group, you will be responsible for enhancing and evolving our advertising platform to take it to the next level and support Coupang’s rapid business growth.
Coupang is investing in building a world-class Advertising business where we run relevant ads across our website and Mobile App. We are building the next generation of products and services to fuel Coupang ad business’s future growth by providing self-service advertising capabilities to our Sellers and Suppliers.
At Coupang, we provide effective advertising solutions to help our sellers sell successfully. Acquiring new advertisers with high potential for success and delivering ongoing ad effectiveness is critical to our business. This position leads the development team and collaborates with Product, Data Analytics, and UX teams. Through experimentation and data-driven decision making, you will lead the development of the end-to-end advertiser funnel, from UX to backend systems to machine learning. You will tackle technical challenges such as scalability and interoperability across the Marketplace and Ads platform. By streamlining the onboarding process for advertisers, you will increase new advertiser acquisition and reduce advertiser churn, ensuring our systems can handle growing demand and complex integrations.
This role is a critical position requiring both technical expertise and business acumen to elevate our advertising business to the next level. We are looking for an exceptional talent to join us on our growth journey.
What you will do
- Lead the technical development of Advertiser Acquisition & Engagement projects.
- Drive initiatives to improve new advertiser onboarding, conversion rates, and retention.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business opportunities and set priorities.
- Lead development across UI, Backend APIs, data pipelines, and machine learning models.
- Define key metrics and A/B tests, conduct experiments, analyze advertiser behavior and performance, and improve conversion funnels.
- Drive Ads domain expertise and mentor engineers within the team.
- Establish Dev Strategy with Industry Tech Sensing like Generative AI.
Basic Qualifications
- 10 years of software engineering experience
- Deep understanding of the ads domain and digital advertising business models
- Proven track record in data-driven decision making and A/B test design/analysis
- Comprehensive knowledge across various technical stacks including frontend, backend, data pipelines, and machine learning systems
- Strong communication skills to effectively explain complex technical problems to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in performance management based on business metrics and KPIs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advertiser acquisition or retention projects on e-commerce platforms and ad marketplaces
- Experience developing ad bidding systems, ad targeting, and ad optimization algorithms
- Experience leading projects to improve ad efficiency utilizing machine learning/AI
- 5+ years of technical leadership experience
- Experience working with international teams and communication skills in Korean and English
