About the Role:
Couchbase is seeking a Senior Manager of Solutions Engineering to lead our Strategic West Solutions Engineering team. This leader will oversee a team of highly skilled Solutions Engineers (SEs) focused on supporting our largest and most strategic accounts across the western United States. The Senior Manager will work closely with sales leadership to drive customer success, shape account strategy, and grow Couchbase’s footprint in key industries.
This role requires a strong mix of leadership, technical expertise, and customer-facing experience. The ideal candidate will have a track record of managing technical teams, building trusted advisor relationships with customers, and driving pre-sales engagements for complex, enterprise-grade solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of Solutions Engineers across the Strategic West region, fostering growth, development, and collaboration.
- Drive the technical components of strategic sales engagements by aligning Couchbase solutions with customer business needs.
- Collaborate with sales leadership to define account strategies and ensure successful outcomes for Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and pilots.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor for customers, advocating for Couchbase’s value in solving their critical data challenges.
- Identify and address technical gaps during pre-sales engagements, ensuring customers have a seamless experience throughout their journey with Couchbase.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to provide field feedback and influence future product direction.
- Champion best practices and thought leadership within the SE team, driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in a pre-sales, consulting, or customer-facing technical role.
- 3+ years of experience leading high-performing technical teams.
- Deep understanding of modern database technologies (NoSQL, distributed systems, cloud-native platforms).
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging technical and business audiences at all levels—from developers to C-level executives.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and enterprise software development (Java, Python, .NET, etc.).
