ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Hospitality Research team is responsible for updating and maintaining STR/CoStars’ hospitality inventory database which is the primary basis for most of STR’s products. The research teams work with various internal and external stakeholders to receive up-to date information (such as openings, closing, brand changes, pipeline proposals) on hospitality properties including hotels, hostels, and serviced apartments. Additionally, Hospitality Research utilizes web research, phone calls and other available resources (e.g. planning documents, construction feeds) to obtain additional details on hospitality properties.
The Hospitality Research Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of a dedicated hospitality research team. This includes working with each employee to ensure they have the tools and skills necessary to efficiently perform their duties and is expected to develop and execute research strategies applicable to specific regions and areas with the overall goal of growing and improving the hospitality inventory data.
To be successful in this role, you can juggle multiple projects, each urgent and competing for your time, while being an excellent communicator, detail-oriented problem solver and hold a desire to grow and lead a team of researchers. As a guardian of our critical industry data points towards all end-users, we rely on your integrity and transparency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Set operational priorities for the hospitality research team
Manage daily work activities of team members to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
Highlight and provide appropriate training to all team members
Assist with onboarding of new staff and provide training plans
Develop and formulate detailed research strategies to targeted specific geographic regions with an explicit focus on data quality and inventory growth
Proactively analyse the hospitality inventory data with extreme attention to detail
Ensure ongoing data consistency and immediately identify any potential issues
Utilize industry knowledge to help support and drive the strategy
Stay up to date with industry trends, important hotel news and overall hotel supply
Work with the business development teams and clients on identifying potential product improvements and develop operational strategies accordingly
Seek to continually enhance understanding of STR products and value proposition
Adhere to all STR processes and policies and maintain customer confidentiality
Ensure STR brand and corporate values are evident to the customer at all times
Understand and adhere to the STR vision and our values
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required
A minimum of 1-2 years of responsible leadership experiences in management or supervisory positions.
Experience in marketing research, hospitality research, hospitality operations or related fields
CHIA Certification
INTERNAL QUALIFICATIONS
Internal applicants are expected to have the following education/experience combination:
Bachelor's degree required
Currently a Senior, Principal Researcher or Research Manager
Experience with hospitality data, hospitality operations or related fields preferred
Good standing with Corrective Action
CHIA Certification
