Role Summary

As an Engineering Lead at Corpay - Cross Border, you will lead a team of software engineers to design, build, and maintain critical systems. You will be responsible for ensuring scalability, performance, and compliance with financial regulations such as DORA, while driving innovation in payments, compliance, onboarding, and FX technology.

You will work closely with product, compliance, and engineering teams to deliver secure, high-performance systems that facilitate seamless client onboarding. This role requires strong technical leadership, architectural expertise, and a deep understanding of fintech regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers and QA professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to support career development and growth.

  • Organise team-building activities, hackathons, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Project Management

  • Oversee the full project lifecycle from concept to delivery, ensuring timelines, scope, and budget adherence.

  • Apply Agile methodologies (Scrum) including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.

  • Collaborate with Product to define and prioritise roadmap aligned with business goals.

Technical Oversight

  • Drive architectural decisions ensuring scalability, performance, and security of systems.

  • Define and enforce coding standards, code reviews, and QA practices.

  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements to reliability and user experience.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and frameworks (e.g., DORA, PSD2, PCI-DSS).

  • Partner with compliance and risk teams for audits, controls, and risk assessments.

  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and adapt engineering practices accordingly.

Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, UX/UI, and Operations teams to deliver seamless customer experiences.

  • Act as a liaison between engineering and business stakeholders.

  • Participate in customer feedback and user testing initiatives.

Innovation & Strategy

  • Drive adoption of emerging technologies and best practices in fintech.

  • Contribute to engineering strategy and technology roadmap.

  • Promote a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.

Process Improvement

  • Optimise engineering processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost.

  • Define and track metrics for productivity and delivery success.

  • Lead adoption of tools and frameworks to streamline workflows.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders on progress, risks, and opportunities.

  • Present technical solutions and business value to senior leadership.

  • Build relationships with external partners and vendors.

Production & Support

  • Ensure high availability, monitoring, and reliability of production systems.

  • Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

  • Apply ITIL practices for service management and incident response.

Skills & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field (required)

  • Master’s degree (preferred)

Experience

  • 5–7+ years in software engineering

  • 2–4+ years in a leadership role

  • Experience in fintech, payments, FX, asset management, or eMoney sectors

  • Proven track record delivering complex systems in production environments

  • Experience with KYC, AML, or RegTech (preferred)

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in C#, JavaScript, TypeScript or similar languages

  • Experience with AWS/GCP and microservices architecture

  • Strong knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Knowledge of system design patterns and architectures (microservices, event-driven)

  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and data modelling

  • Salesforce (Apex, LWC) experience (preferred)

Leadership & Management

  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects

  • Experience leading incident management and production recovery

Analytical & Problem Solving

  • Strong troubleshooting and system optimisation skills

  • Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, Grafana)

Communication

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to resolve conflicts and drive alignment

Finance & Compliance Knowledge

  • Understanding of AML, fraud detection, and risk management

  • Experience integrating financial APIs and KYC providers

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (DORA, PSD2, PCI-DSS)
