Sr. Systems Engineer

London Based Hybrid

We are looking to recruit a Sr. Systems Engineer to join our Corporate IT team.  You will have subject matter expertise with Microsoft Windows Server (2022, 2019, 2016), Active Directory, Exchange, cloud environments (AWS and Azure), VMware, Citrix, Cisco UCS (hyperconverged technology). You will be responsible for designing, building, organizing, modifying, documenting, and supporting the Corporate Enterprise Infrastructure and will ensure stability, integrity, and efficiency through automation. You will be part of the team that keeps our systems running to peak performance. 

What you will be doing:

• Architecting, deploying, configuring, and maintaining Windows Servers (2022, 2019, 2016) in virtual (cloud and on-prem) and physical environments. 
• Integrating on-premises Active Directory with AWS environments using AWS Directory Service, ensuring secure and seamless authentication and authorization across hybrid cloud setups. 
• Implementing and managing configuration management using AWS Systems Manager (SSM) for Windows instances, including creating and managing State Manager associations, Automation documents, and Run Commands to automate configuration and patch management tasks. 
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining Terraform configurations for deploying and managing Windows Server-based environments in AWS, ensuring infrastructure as code (IaC) practices for consistency and automation across multiple environments. 
• Setting up and managing AWS CloudWatch and AWS Config for log aggregation, monitoring, compliance management, and alerting for Windows-based workloads in AWS. Implementing automated remediation using Event Bridge and SSM. 

What you skills/experience you need to have: 

• 7+ years’ experience working as a Systems Engineer, bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred or relevant experience equivalent 
• 4+ years’ experience doing architecture and design for Windows Server, AWS, Azure. 
• Hands-on experience with AWS Systems Manager (SSM) for automating Windows server management, including patch management, configuration automation, and compliance reporting. 
• In-depth understanding of AWS security best practices, including IAM, Security Groups, AWS KMS, Secrets Manager, and integrating with Windows Server security settings. 
• Advanced experience with Terraform for defining, deploying, and managing Windows-based cloud infrastructure in AWS using infrastructure as code (IaC) principles. 
• Experience with PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) for managing configuration as code across Windows environments to ensure consistent and repeatable deployments. 
• Experience with third-party configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack) for managing Windows workloads, especially in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
