Software Engineer

As a Software Engineer, you will work under a team of  UI and back-end developers and QA engineers for our products and applications portfolio.  The software engineer will be allocated to one of these projects and will work with a dedicated team where they will work together with other roles such as Product Owner, Project Manager, etc. 

The technology stack for CCC products and services is based on JAVA as the back end with a persistence tier utilizing a relational database (PostgreSQL or others).  Most of the services allow users to find content and leverage ElasticSearch as the inverted index. The individual must possess oral and written English communication skills and have a track record of working with a cross-functional engineering team. Experience with AWS is a plus. Experience working with rest services and creating rest services is a must.

What you will be doing: 

• Create, integrate, and implement new systems, enhancements and software solutions using business analysis and technical skills, including full spectrum of system life cycle development.   
• Participates as a team member in analysis, development, implementation, testing and documentation of software engineering projects, setting and meeting realistic timelines and deadlines.  
• Creates systems that follow Copyright Clearance Center design criteria of reusable, extensible and stable components.  
• Ensures that design and code review occur in a timely manner and that systems are documented.  
• Contributes to the development of new applications standards and infrastructure and adheres to existing standards, methodologies and architectures.  
• Follows Copyright Clearance Center’s production processes, including source code management, environment management and implementation planning. 

Requirements 

• Minimum of 3 years of experience building Web-based and server-based applications using Java, Spring, relational database (Postgresql), AWS experience and a minimum of 2 years experience with project management and/or system life cycle development methodology, particularly
• Experience with search frameworks (for example, ElasticSearch), RESTful services Experience with GitHub, Jira
• Agile/SAFe Programming expertise with superior business analysis and technical skills. Ability to serve as technological expert to junior and team staff and train on new applications.
• Proactive in identifying and assimilating emerging technologies and applications.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, subject to peer review and ability to set and meet deadlines.
• Proven team lead with excellent organizational, project planning, and team leadership skills.
• Excellent analytical and interpretative skills and excellent verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• May be accountable for other results and activities as assigned.
