About the Position

Contrast is looking for a highly technical front-end engineer who is enthusiastic and proficient in CSS, Typescript, web development, and ReactJS. This person should take a holistic view of our application architecture with sincere attention to quality, performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.

Ideal candidates have a background in building highly scalable and responsive single-page applications (SPAs) using ReactJS, TypeScript and CSS.

Our engineering team has a strong spirit of entrepreneurship. Every team member has joined us because they want to be part of a high-performing team and go through the startup experience. We look for candidates who share similar goals and beliefs about the work and the team they want to be a part of.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with UX, Product, and Engineering to architect elegant APIs, Data Models, and reusable JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Provide overarching design of testability and acceptance
  • Define and direct the team in the area of Performance, Scalability, and Security
  • Design and development of a rich user interface for mission-critical high-availability analytics applications using front-end technologies, including TypeScript, ReactJS, Javascript, ES6, HTML, CSS
  • Help manage and improve React components within a company-wide design system
  • Execute performance analysis and optimization of page render, data transfers, and page load optimizations
  • Participate in constant collaboration with teammates in the form of pair programming, group code reviews, and pull requests before commit
  • Work with design and product teams to build unique, jaw-dropping features
  • Give back to the Open Source Community whenever humanly possible
  • Deploys: our engineers deploy multiple times a day to our AWS infrastructure
  • Technical support: Our engineers don't just release code in the wild. When our customers have issues, we have to jump in and give them help and participate in on-call rotations

Qualifications:

  • You have at least 3 years of experience building modern, scalable, and high-performing front-end web applications in Enterprise or Commercial Software development
  • You have strong communication skills. You ask questions, let others know when you need help, and tell others what you need
  • You are a master of Typescript
  • You enjoy building React functional components with reusable hooks
  • You are comfortable working with REST APIs, preferably with react-query
  • You have extensive HTML5 and CSS3 experience, preferably with CSS-in-JS libraries like emotion/CSS
  • You have an eye for quality and use tools/frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Cucumber, Prettier, JUnit, etc.
  • Experience working in Enterprise or Commercial Software development
  • Your code is clean, your designs are elegant, and you are constantly refactoring
  • You own your work. Whether a nasty bug or an awesome feature, you put your name on every line of code

  • We are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you’re excited about this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply.

What We Offer:

  • A fun and dynamic environment where you work with other like-minded people on products which make a real difference to the security of our customers
  • The onboarding, training, and tools to allow you to excel from day one
  • A team who are generous with their knowledge and time, who work collaboratively and provide each other a platform to succeed
  • A competitive salary package that includes stock options
