About the Role:

Kora Storage team has the vision to build an elastic, reliable, durable, cost effective and performant storage engine for streaming data. The storage engine is at the heart of innovations that would unlock the next generation of use cases for Kora, with the ability to impact the company’s top and bottom line.

We are looking for someone with deep interest in building large-scale distributed storage systems in the cloud.

What You Will Do:

• Build the software underpinning the mission-critical Confluent Cloud storage engine. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing and operationalizing high performance, scalable, reliable and resilient systems.
• Independently drive execution of software projects to deliver complex projects in production with a focus on quality.
• Build upon open source software to deliver business impact.
• Troubleshoot issues and improve operations for complex technical stack that spans all the 3 clouds.
• Have a strong sense of teamwork and be able to make decisions which benefit the team and company.

What You Will Bring:

• SBS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure/cloud networking experience
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
• Experience building and operating large-scale systems
• Solid understanding of basic systems operations (disk, network, operating systems, etc.)
• A self-starter with the ability to work effectively in teams
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, C++, Go or other statically typed languages

What Gives You an Edge:

• A strong background in distributed storage systems or databases
• Experience/knowledge with public clouds (AWS, Azure or GCP)

We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $139,230 - $163,620 an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
