About the Role:

Confluent‬‭ Platform‬‭ team’s‬‭ mission‬‭ is‬‭ to‬‭ provide‬‭ best-in‬‭ class‬‭ full-scale‬‭ data‬‭ streaming‬‭ platform‬ in‬‭ any‬‭ BYOI‬‭ - Bring‬‭ Your‬‭ Own‬‭ Infra‬‭ setup‬‭ from‬‭ developer’s‬‭ laptop‬‭ to‬‭ private‬‭ cloud‬ infrastructure.‬

‬CP Charter: Businesses‬‭ need‬‭ real‬‭ time‬‭ stream‬‭ systems‬‭ to‬‭ react‬‭ and‬‭ make‬‭ decisions‬‭ quickly‬‭ at‬‭ scale.‬ Designing‬‭ systems‬‭ for‬‭ such‬‭ use-cases‬‭ will‬‭ require‬‭ a‬‭ data-streaming‬‭ platform.‬‭ Confluent‬‭ is‬‭ the‬ leader‬‭ in‬‭ data-in-motion‬‭ with‬‭ Confluent‬‭ Platform‬‭ as‬‭ the‬‭ streaming‬‭ product.‬‭ We‬‭ intend‬‭ to‬‭ make‬ this‬‭ platform‬‭ and‬‭ expertise‬‭ available‬‭ to‬‭ everyone‬‭ and‬‭ everywhere‬‭ be‬‭ it‬‭ private‬‭ cloud‬‭ or‬‭ open‬-source tech community.‬

• Provide “Confluent“ experience on private cloud.‬
• ‭CP‬‭ generates‬‭ 50%‬‭ of‬‭ the‬‭ Confluent‬‭ revenue‬‭ for‬‭ the‬‭ company‬‭ as‬‭ of‬‭ 2023.‬‭ We‬‭ provide‬ customers‬‭ with‬‭ a‬‭ strong‬‭ product‬‭ roadmap,‬‭ security‬‭fixes‬‭ and‬‭ in-time‬‭ support.‬
• We‬‭ help‬ them‬‭ leverage‬‭ existing‬‭ investments‬‭ in‬‭ private‬‭ data‬‭ centers‬‭ for‬‭ all‬‭ data‬‭ in-motion‬ use-cases.‬‭
• Enable‬‭ customers‬‭ can‬‭ take‬‭ advantage‬‭ of‬‭ Confluent‬‭ Cloud‬‭ innovations‬‭ alongside‬‭ their‬ private cloud by providing connected cloud features.‬ ‭Gather Tech Community’s mind-share with Confluent Platform.‬
• ‭Enhance Kafka and Confluent Developer Experience.‬‭

What You Will Do:

• You will work with a team of engineers and architects to help evolve the Confluent Platform.
• Work closely with product management, engineering leadership, and other key stakeholders across various teams in Confluent to build and drive the overall roadmap.
• Influence the overall domain health and operational hygiene for the Confluent Platform.
• We are looking for you to be a leader for our CP Monitoring and Management Team driving our Hybrid strategy as the first goal.
• Hybrid requires close collaboration across a minimum of 6-7 teams across the globe and timezones. This is a multi-year initiative to drive CP revenue with new acquisitions and renewal.
• Hybrid is one of the key initiatives that the Confluent leadership team is fired-up about and actively driving across the organization.

What You Will Bring:

• Overall 15+ years of experience in software development and engineering space.
• At least 5+ years of engineering management experience leading productive, high-functioning teams.
• Ability to hire while ensuring a high hiring bar, keep engineers motivated, coach/mentor, and handle performance management.
• A great track record of shipping features and hitting deadlines consistently; should be able to move fast, build in increments and iterate; have a sense of urgency, aggressive mindset towards achieving results and excellent prioritization skills; able to anticipate future technical needs for the product and craft plans to realize them.
• Ability to influence the team, peers, and upper management using effective communication and collaborative techniques; focused on building and maintaining a culture of collaboration within the team.
• Excellent communication skills.A self starter with the ability to work effectively in teams.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and operations.
• Familiarity with Kafka or similar high-scale distributed event streaming platforms.Solid experience working with large private or public clouds.

What Gives You an Edge:

• Experience using Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Spark is a big plus
• Stream processing systems.
• Structured query serving systems.
• Data processing systems in general.
• Storage experience
