About the Role:

As an IT security engineer at Confluent, you will join a team of security engineers responsible for defining and executing on the security strategy for our IT infrastructure and supporting systems. You will work closely with our IT and broader Infosec organization to define and enforce strong security practices, develop solid security processes and capabilities to secure critical business systems at Confluent. You will ensure that security is embedded in how we design and build systems and associated workflows, help ensure production integrations adhere to security best practices, and partner with various stakeholder teams to strategically guard against existing or emerging threats.

This position is responsible for cultivating a culture of security awareness across IT, Business Systems, and the rest of the organization. The ideal candidate has deep technical security knowledge and expertise and will help define and implement robust security architecture strategies, frameworks and governance processes.

What You Will Do:

• Partner with key stakeholders across Confluent to promote and implement best practices for business systems security.
• Develop and maintain documentation for security policies, procedures, and best practices alongside helping enforce Confluent’s overall Information Security and IT Security policies.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest IT and business system security trends, technologies, and threats.
• Design, develop, deploy security solutions, frameworks, automation, and orchestration to secure Confluent’s vendor integrations and critical internal applications.
• Identify and implement additional technology controls to enhance visibility and protect against key attack vectors.
• Conduct design and security implementation reviews to provide engineers with critical security guidance while supporting business objectives.
• Work with management and help define a business security governance program that aligns security principles with corporate and business unit strategies.
• Evangelize the significance of data security and offer guidance on best practices to maintain a secure environment.

What You Will Bring:

• A data-driven, decision-making mindset.
• Strong knowledge of data handling, security fundamentals and associated best practices.
• Experience working with distributed teams and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• 3-5 years of relevant security industry experience, preferably in performing security reviews and hardening of internal applications, data flows and vendor integrations such as Salesforce.
• Knowledge of Cloud security primitives will be considered a plus but not mandatory
• Basic or Intermediate proficiency with coding (e.g. Python, Java, Go) or another scripting language.
• Decision-maker with the ability to operate with freedom and autonomy.
• Ability to own and oversee numerous initiatives, while working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, and adjust priorities upon evolving business needs.

We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $160,100 - $188,100 and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
