Software Engineer I

The Listing Services Team is the core of the data ingestion pipeline at Compass. We are responsible for aggregating listings from hundreds of third party systems, serving enriched listing data that enables a multitude of Compass products, and guaranteeing that listings are searchable by our customers as quickly as possible. The team also maintains and continuously develops the product used by Compass agents to create, edit, and delete listings on the Compass platform. 

As a Software Engineer on this team, you will work on projects that enable Compass agents to create listings on our platform as efficiently as possible, all while continuing to meet the ever-growing needs of engineers across Compass who work with listing data. You will collaborate with and learn from more Senior members of the team to work towards the best possible solutions. You will work with engineering and product managers to achieve the KPIs for the Listings Services Team and ensure the successful delivery of essential business outcomes.

At Compass, You Will:

• Work with Senior Engineers to maintain and enhance the wide array of services and technologies owned by the Listing Services Team.
• Improve the product responsible for CRUD operations of Compass listings.
• Operate in a scalable engineering culture that leverages modern principles of decoupled systems and automated CI/CD/testing/monitoring to drive efficiencies.
• Work closely with Product, Design, and adjacent Engineering teams to deliver business critical features to our customers
• Hone your engineering skills by learning from Senior Engineers.

What We Look For:

• BA/BS/MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience programming in Java or C#.
• Experience writing SQL.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• 1-2 years of software engineering experience is a plus.
• Experience working on public cloud platforms – AWS in particular – is a plus.
• Experience with one or more of these technologies is a plus: Postgres, DynamoDB, Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes, and DataBricks

Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $70,200-$105,300 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met
