Job Summary

The Xfinity Sales Technology Commerce Experience team is seeking a Senior Front-end Software Engineer to join our development team. This team of highly passionate engineers is responsible for working on the Xfinity.com sales platform, which supports both our self-service customers and our Retail and Telesales Agents. In this role, you will collaborate with your peers and other teams, developers, architects, and product owners to develop enterprise-scale front-end applications enabling our Internet, Mobile, Cable, Voice, and Home Security product sales.

 

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.

  • Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.

  • Leads cross-functional technical design discussions

  • Trains junior Software Development Engineers on internally developed software applications.

  • Works with engineering managers, cross-team leads, product owners, and program managers on defining technical short and long-term strategy for engineering initiatives

  • Is responsible for the researching, writing and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.

  • Assists in technical roadmap planning and provides estimates regarding LOEs, feasibility, and risk.

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand and incorporate business objectives into technical strategies while collaborating with downstream partners

  • Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.

  • Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.

  • Triage and resolve urgent issues in our systems and collaborate with other leads to solve problems

  • Assists in supervising and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget.

  • Works with Quality Assurance team to settle if applications fit specification and technical requirements.

  • Displays expertise in knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.

  • Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • 7+ years working in front-end web development.

  • Extensive programming experience in HTML5 and CSS3.

  • Excellent JavaScript knowledge and programming experience with ES5/ES6 Proven understanding and development experience in a modern JavaScript framework such as Angular, React or Vue.

  • Experience with Typescript, NodeJS, NPM.

  • Experience with module bundlers such as Webpack.

  • Experience consuming and developing RESTful Web Services.

  • Experience writing unit tests (Jest, Jasmine, Karma or Chai).

  • Experience with client-side architecture and design patterns.

  • Awareness of cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side performance considerations Solid understanding and extensive experience with Git version control.

  • Experienced with the Agile/Scrum development model using Agile tools (e.g. Jira, Rally).

  • Team player. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with team members.

  • B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, etc. or equivalent work experience.
