Job Summary

This role is responsible for leading the strategy, delivery and operational excellence of Device Software Engineering programmes supporting Comcast and Sky's connected entertainment and connectivity platforms. The position provides leadership across multiple software engineering organisations, driving execution, technical direction and organisational growth while ensuring alignment with business priorities. The role oversees the development, delivery and lifecycle management of software platforms powering millions of customer devices worldwide, working closely with engineering, product, architecture, operations and partner organisations across multiple regions. Responsibilities include establishing engineering strategies, driving software quality and delivery excellence, developing leadership capability, managing large-scale engineering investments and fostering innovation through the adoption of modern engineering practices and technologies. The successful candidate will lead globally distributed teams, build strong cross-functional partnerships and ensure engineering objectives support broader organisational goals while balancing customer outcomes, operational efficiency and long-term platform evolution. This role requires significant independent judgement, strategic thinking and leadership across complex technical and business environments.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and execution of Device Software Engineering strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
• Direct large, geographically distributed engineering teams responsible for software platforms across broadband, video and connected device ecosystems.
• Drive predictable delivery of software programmes, ensuring quality, reliability, security and operational excellence.
• Establish engineering governance, delivery frameworks, performance metrics and continuous improvement practices.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Operations, Programme Management and Security teams to align engineering investments with business priorities.
• Collaborate with global engineering leaders to develop and execute technology roadmaps and platform strategies.
• Build and develop engineering leadership capability through coaching, organisational design, succession planning and talent development.
• Manage engineering budgets, resource planning and strategic investments to meet financial and business objectives.
• Drive adoption of modern engineering methodologies, automation, observability and software development practices to improve engineering efficiency.
• Develop effective relationships with external technology partners, suppliers, OEMs and silicon vendors to support successful delivery outcomes.
• Oversee software releases and platform lifecycle activities, ensuring seamless implementation and support across multiple product lines.
• Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, inclusion and customer focus throughout the engineering organisation.
• Exercise independent judgement and discretion in matters of strategic and organisational significance.
