This program immerses students into the daily operation of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. The student becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. 

Organization & Team Overview 

Comcast’s Technology, Product & Experience (TPX) organization works at the intersection of media and technology. Our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products that transform the customer experience. Access Engineering is part of TPX’s Connect organization.  

We are an Engineering Organization focusing on launching next gen technology connectivity products which is going to change the customer’s internet experience. Our group is responsible for all the wired access technology in Comcast, which is not limited to Docsis, Fiber, and Ethernet.   

 

Role Description 

Are you ready to be part of the Telecommunication Engineering team by applying the latest access technologies in the cable industry? If you are passionate about Networking, Telecommunication Engineering and Cloud Networking, this is for you.  

As an Access Technology Engineering Intern on the Access Engineering team, you will be participating on validation, and Automation of the Docsis 4.0 FDX Products and DAA systems.  

 

What are some interesting problems the student will work on?  

In your role, you will identify the testing coverage across the entities including RPD, vCMTS, and Operational tools. Bridging the gap by maximizing the test coverage, not limited to Protocol testing, Stress testing, Failover in the DAA Architecture. Interoperability across different OEM devices, develop automation scripts using traffic generators, and python to improve the coverage and accuracy of testing.   

Where can this student make an impact?  

You’ll be working with the best technologists in Access Engineering while we roll out the Full Duplex Docsis technology to millions of customers homes. Success in this role is characterized by no escape defects to the field, improving the performance of full duplex bandwidth speed and reduced latency.  

Job Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Provide end to end review of test coverage to improve the product performance by analyzing the existing test results and data.  

  • Apply thought leadership and enhance the testing scope. 

  • Develop testing framework from the DAA systems perspective.  

  • Automation of test cases using ruby on rails, react JS framework. 

  • Provides research and assistance to leadership in the development and design of testing methodology  

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills. 

  • Knowledge about Network Engineering, Fundamentals of Telecommunication 

  • Working knowledge of Scripting languages; preferably react JS, ruby. 

  • Knowledge about python, XML, REST API 

  • Knowledge of Cloud Networking technologies 

  • Preferred Majors: Computer Engineering, Communication Engineering, Computer Science   

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university  

  • Rising Junior or Rising Senior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2025- Spring 2027)  

  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2025 semester before graduating) 

  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 2 through August 15, 2025 

  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs 

  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Compensation

Base Pay: $32.00
