Job Responsibilities
- Strategy and Vision: Define overall technical vision, strategy and roadmap aligned with business goals and objectives. Accomplish high-level outcomes and lead quarterly reviews and OKR planning. Build and lead a high-performing team.
- Architecture and Delivery: Oversee all software and operational components and develop long-term technical roadmaps and milestones. Establish delivery standards and working processes for all engineering functions.
- Business Continuity Planning: Align and maintain service-level objectives, compliance and business continuity plans for all systems including financial, brand and regulatory impact. Identify technical risks, develop mitigation plans and address challenges in the process. Provide technical direction to engineering leads.
- Talent as a Resource: Lead managers to develop management skills, feedback and progression frameworks and implement programs for upskilling and career progression. Review capacity planning to ensure continuous staffing and competencies of the department. Nurture and advocate for staff well-being and uphold company core values.
- Engineering Leadership: Coordinate engineering staff, workflows and structure based on feedback and synergy with other teams. Communicate team and tech status to internal and external stakeholders. Work closely with human resources and finance to influence resource planning and other requirements.
- Engineering Excellence: Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies and their impact on the company technical roadmap. Develop and direct R&D projects, communicate insights, and manage resource planning with related lines of business.
- Partnerships & External Engagements: Represent the company in technical forums and industry events to establish the company’s competencies in tech. Foster working relationships with ecosystem partners, vendors and industry experts on strategic initiatives.
- Evangelism: Evangelize all aspects of CoinGecko’s engineering while communicating strategic context across and beyond the organization. Support any ad hoc tasks as required by the company.
Job Requirements
- Proven Track Record: Up to 12 years of software development experience and leadership. Proven track record over multiple years as a leader responsible for engineering vision, strategy, and managing multiple teams across different domains. Strong general business acumen. Experienced implementing business planning and management frameworks to accomplish meaningful business growth.
- Product Knowledge: Demonstrated complete understanding of tech businesses, startup growth, product development with sufficient knowledge of the blockchain/cryptocurrency domain. Demonstrated proven ability to adapt into an organization and pick up overall business and department operations quickly.
- Software Development Knowledge: Breadth of knowledge of software development processes across a variety of organizational structures. Deep, substantial expertise in different technologies and proven experience implementing product and tech-driven changes to achieve business outcomes.
- People Skills: Charismatic leader who can establish effective collaborative relations with other internal departments or external organizations. Proven ability to engage with both individual contributors and leaders of all levels in constructive and collaborative relationships.
- Leadership: Strong sense of leadership and empathy for entire teams. Experienced in advocating and influencing changes across the department. Experienced implementing goal-driven strategies in all areas of work. Demonstrate servant-based leadership and knowledge of leading by example.
- Coaching: Has a clear understanding of your role as the primary coach of engineering and other leaders, distinct from managing software delivery.
- Engineering Vision and Strategy: Proven track record of articulating and executing engineering vision, strategies, and roadmap encompassing multiple domains/product lines in accordance with the company vision, business priorities, and industry trends.
- Scope of Work: Worked on open-ended business interests across multiple domains and contributing by defining key results and developing department-wide roadmaps.
- Problem Solving: Solve hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgment to assess risks and present arguments in a well-structured, data-backed, written narrative. Have passion, creativity and empathy for users.
- Growth Mindset: Demonstrated ability to learn multiple functional areas of business – engineering, design, finance, sales, or marketing.
- You have keen interest in cryptocurrency, blockchain, and smart contracts.
- Nice to have:
- Experience building on or integrating with decentralized tech.
- Experience working in growth-to-late stage startups or tech enterprises and contributing to pivotal growth phases in the company.
- Experience contributing to tech communities in thought leadership, technical input or sponsorship and events.
