Cogniac is an industrial AI company on a mission to improve the world by making it insanely easy to automate any visual inspection task to superhuman levels of accuracy. We have developed an elegant end-to-end architecture to enable easy deployment of deep convolutional neural networks for industrial and manufacturing visual inspection tasks.    

The system is designed with a ‘human in the loop’ to assist with difficult images, ensuring a high degree of accuracy and also enabling the system to improve over time as it is designed to actively query the relevant human experts and incorporate their quick visual feedback via a streamlined application interface. Our web application is at the center of this user interaction. We are hiring a Director of User Experience Engineering to lead a front-end team in developing develop rich, creative features for our web application to empower our users. Candidates must have a strong experience with JavaScript. Experience with Ember.js framework is a strong plus. You must also have a passion for creating intuitive user experiences. Previous experience in a start-up environment is a huge plus. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Take on overall responsibility for user experience and development of user facing applications
  • Manage a team of front-end developers and expand it to include UX design and QA
  • Lead the front-end software architecture decisions to ensure fast feature delivery as we grow  
  • Work on the full development life cycle of time sensitive projects.  
  • Design and build new functionalities  
  • Design user interfaces and user experience 
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks on large projects that are image centric. Experience with video a plus. 
  • In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment). 
  • Exceptional talent in UX Design
  • Solid computer science foundation and understanding of underlying web environment and protocols.  
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with all stakeholders.  
  • Experience leading a small or medium team, or a desire to lead
  • 5+ years in a Front-End Development role.  
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently.  
  • UX Design experience a plus.
