About the Role

As a Senior Engineer on the Documents team, your role is vital in driving the success of our company. Your extensive experience and deep understanding of engineering principles will be instrumental in supporting our business objectives and addressing complex challenges with innovative solutions. Your expertise will contribute to defining technical strategies that effectively address critical business problems, leading to the delivery of high-quality, impactful solutions.

In this position, you will play a key role in defining team architecture and technical solutions, collaborating closely with team members and related teams throughout projects. Your contributions to software architecture, performance enhancements, and overall business value will be significant, directly impacting our organization's success.

As a mentor within the team, you will have the opportunity to coach and guide other engineers in the design, development, testing, and deployment of software. Your leadership will foster a culture of excellence, elevating the capabilities of the entire team and enhancing our collective ability to deliver resilient and high-quality solutions.

With your technical expertise and collaborative approach, the Documents team will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of document generation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize a broad range of experience and professional knowledge to creatively and effectively resolve complex technical issues that align with company objectives.
  • Define and implement technology strategies to address business problems, delivering independent solutions while collaborating with other teams.
  • Focus on team architecture and product solutions, extending influence and collaboration to related teams during projects.
  • Engage in hands-on coding and delivery while providing guidance and support to other engineers on the team, promoting best practices and code quality.
  • Lead and deliver high-impact projects, ensuring successful outcomes that align with business goals.
  • Address complex software challenges, navigating visible risks, roadblocks, and constraints to ensure solutions are scalable and extensible.
  • Influence software architecture and enhance performance and business value through innovative approaches and thoughtful design.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software, demonstrating leadership in managing significant projects and delegating tasks effectively within a small team of Software Development Engineers (SDEs).
  • Proactively simplify code and resolve architectural dependencies, applying both tactical and strategic approaches to development.
  • Identify long-term risks and devise viable paths forward in challenging situations.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at streamlining team processes and implementing mechanisms that reduce churn during project implementation.
  • Exhibit self-driven behavior by actively finding time to prototype new ideas and tackle significant engineering challenges independently.
  • Communicate proactively and positively with cross-functional teams, taking responsibility for larger project communications and updates.
  • Influence peers, managers, product managers, and directors while mentoring team members and driving learning opportunities, such as brown bag sessions and learning series.

Requirements

  1. Technical Skills:
    • Proven hands-on coding experience in developing complex software applications.
    • Deep understanding of microservice architectural design, particularly focused on business logic.
    • Proficiency in mentoring and guiding the team on design patterns and potential pitfalls.
  2. Operational Experience:
    • Previous experience managing on-call duties for incident response, ensuring efficient resolution of issues.
    • Demonstrated expertise in implementing monitoring and observability practices to maintain system health and performance.
    • Proven track record of enhancing team practices for improved reliability and performance.
  3. Quality Focus:
    • Strong background in elevating software quality within a team.
    • Ability to guide and promote testing, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), code reviews, and other quality practices to ensure robust and bug-free software.
  4. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to team members and stakeholders.
    • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset, capable of working effectively in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to communicate the pros and cons of solutions while garnering buy-in from leadership on technical investments.
  5. Problem-solving and Leadership:
    • Strong problem-solving skills to analyze complex technical issues and devise effective solutions.
    • Leadership capabilities to inspire and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

  • Template Management Proficiency: Experience in handling services related to creating and managing document templates.
  • Backend and Front-End Experience: Experience in full-stack development.
  • Scaling Document Generation: Background in scaling document generation processes to efficiently handle increased demands.
  • Accuracy and Precision: Ability to prioritize accuracy and precision in document generation.

Project Management: Experience managing cross-team technical projects.

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $125,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $190,000/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location. Your recruiter can share more on target salary for your location during the interview process. Coalition, Inc. reserves the right to modify this range as needed.
