Founding Engineer

About the Role

This is a founding engineering role at an early-stage healthtech startup building a practice management platform for veterinary clinics. You'll work directly with the CTO to shape the product and architecture from day one, owning features that ship to real customers immediately.

What You'll Do

• Build full-stack features across a TypeScript/Express backend, React frontend, and PostgreSQL database.

• Translate user feedback directly into code and see your work deployed in live veterinary practices.

• Own entire feature areas end-to-end, from conception through production.

• Make early architectural decisions that scale, with genuine influence over the tech stack.

• Integrate with practice management systems and third-party services.

• Balance product thinking with engineering execution, considering user needs alongside technical feasibility.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping web applications.

• Proficiency with TypeScript, Express, and React for full-stack development.

• Strong grasp of database design and SQL, particularly with PostgreSQL.

• Experience designing and consuming third-party APIs and external integrations.

• A product-first mindset — you ask why before building, not after.

• Comfort with startup ambiguity, rapid pivots, and direct communication.

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent demonstrated competency through shipped work.

• Familiarity with AI tools to improve development workflow and productivity is a plus.

• Experience with B2B SaaS products or healthcare/vertical SaaS is a bonus.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: €65,000 – €85,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

Hybrid in Berlin, Germany. Regular on-site presence expected.
