We’re Cleerly – a healthcare company that’s revolutionizing how heart disease is diagnosed, treated, and tracked. We were founded in 2017 by one of the world’s leading cardiologists and are a growing team of world-class engineering, operations, medical affairs, marketing, and sales leaders. We raised $223M in Series C funding in 2022 which has enabled rapid growth and continued support of our mission. In December 2024 we received an additional $106M in a Series C extension funding. Most of our teams work remotely and have access to our offices in Denver, Colorado, New, York, New York, Dallas, Texas, and Lisbon, Portugal with some roles requiring you to be on-site in a location.
Cleerly has created a new standard of care for heart disease through value-based, AI-driven precision diagnostic solutions with the goal of helping prevent heart attacks. Our technology goes beyond traditional measures of heart disease by enabling comprehensive quantification and characterization of atherosclerosis, or plaque buildup, in each of the heart arteries. Cleerly’s solutions are supported by more than a decade of performing some of the world’s largest clinical trials to identify important findings beyond symptoms that increase a person’s risk of heart attacks.
At Cleerly, we collaborate digitally and use a wide variety of systems. Our people use Google Workspace (GMail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides), Slack, Confluence/Jira, and Zoom Video, prior experience in these areas is a plus. About the Opportunity

As our VP of Engineering, you will define and execute Cleerly’s technical vision, ensuring the delivery of scalable, high-quality software. You will lead a team of world-class engineers, driving innovation while navigating the complexities of healthcare technology.

Salary: $312,000 - $360,000*
*Total Target Compensation (TTC): Total Cash Compensation (including base pay, variable pay, commission, bonuses, etc.). We hire employees anywhere within the United States and account for geography when determining base salary.
Responsibilities
- Build and Lead: Grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Champion Lean and Agile Methodologies: Establish and promote lean and agile best practices, enabling iterative development, customer-driven prioritization, and rapid adaptation to change.
- Drive Technical Excellence: Oversee software development, DevOps, and infrastructure to ensure our platform is secure, scalable, and high-performing.
- Define and Execute Strategy: Partner with the CTO and cross-functional leaders to shape and execute the technology roadmap.
- Innovate in a Regulated Space: Implement best practices in software development, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance, ensuring alignment with healthcare standards.
- Develop Leaders: Mentor engineering managers and technical leads, creating an environment where talent thrives.
- Scale Systems and Processes: Establish frameworks and workflows that support rapid growth and operational excellence, applying lean principles to minimize waste and optimize value delivery.
- Prioritize and Deliver: Manage engineering resources, budgets, and timelines to align with Cleerly’s strategic goals.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Product, Clinical, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment between business needs and engineering priorities.
- Measure and Improve: Establish key performance metrics that drive continuous learning, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven Engineering Leadership: Experience leading and scaling engineering teams in fast-growing, Agile environments.
- Lean and agile Mindset: Knowledge of lean and agile frameworks with the maturity to know when to leverage those frameworks, and when to not.
- Cloud & SaaS Expertise: Deep understanding of cloud architectures, distributed systems, and scalable infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Full-Stack Development Knowledge: Hands-on experience with modern software development, DevOps, and security best practices.
- Regulated Industry Experience: Exposure to healthcare, medical devices, or other regulated industries is highly desirable.
- Exceptional Communication & Collaboration: Ability to influence across teams, translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Passion for tackling complex challenges, driving technical innovation, and making informed, data-driven decisions.
- Adaptability & Resilience: Comfort navigating ambiguity in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
Strongly desired, cardiology-specific skills:
- Understanding of Cardiology: Familiarity with coronary artery disease, plaque characterization, and the clinical implications of diagnostic imaging in cardiology.
- Experience with Cardiology-Specific Imaging Modalities: Knowledge of CT angiography (CTA), cardiac MR, echocardiography, and relevant imaging-derived metrics (e.g., plaque volume, FFR, stenosis quantification).
- Workflow Expertise: Direct experience working with or building products for cardiologists, radiologists, and primary care physicians managing cardiovascular risk.
- Familiarity with clinical workflows: Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
- Healthcare experience: Direct healthcare product development, especially with FDA regulated products, is highly desirable.
