Lead Software Engineer (JavaScript/Java)

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (JavaScript/Java) to join our team in Belgrade. This is an amazing opportunity to work on First to File (FTF), a Java-backed web-based application for document process management in the IP lifecycle. The team consists of 4 Software Engineers, 3 QA Engineers and reports to the FTF Engineering Manager. We have a great skill set in the team and we would love to speak with you if you have skills in building applications with Javascript, HTML, CSS, and Java.
 

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

• 5+ years of experience in building and maintaining web-based software applications
• 5+ years of experience using programming languages- Javascript, HTML, CSS
• 4+ years of experience writing software utilizing Java
   

It would be great if you also had…

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science or related degree
• Familiarity with the YUI library
• Experience using Node.js
• Experience working with PostgreSQL
• Experience with troubleshooting software issues
• Understanding of Agile scrum methodology
   

What will you be doing in this role?

• Actively involved and hands-on with writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
• Implementing creative and innovative approaches to solving complex functional and logical challenges
• Creating new features in response to customer requests
• Fixing bugs that have been identified
• Working as part of a team to identify and resolve security issues and technical debt
• Take part in a peer review rotation to ensure that committed code meets software standards for the team
   

Product you will be developing

FTF is a document process management tool that is used by our customers to help manage and maintain documents associated with the IP lifecycle.  The application utilizes Java on the backend and JavaScript on the front end.   FTF also has an API and other tools to allow for interaction with various IPMS and other systems.
 

About the Team 

You will be working with a team of 4 other Software Engineers and 3 QA Engineers.  The team reports to the FTF Engineering manager.  A Product Manager is assigned to the Team who represents the interests of external customers.

Hours of Work   

This is a permanent full-time position, with core engagement hours within CET time zone. 

This is a hybrid position, you will be expected to work from our Belgrade office 3 days every other week.
