We are seeking a dynamic and tenured Director/Senior Director of Product Development to lead and scale our India-based engineering and operations functions in support of enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. Reporting directly to the VP of Enterprise Applications & Architecture, the successful candidate will be an experienced leader capable of building and managing high-performing teams while ensuring seamless collaboration with US-based product management leadership with the ability to deliver cross-functional projects across critical business areas, including Lead-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report, Data & Analytics, etc.
The Director of Product Development is pivotal in designing and implementing Clarivate’s product development organization, driving efficiency through SDLC best practices, managing capacity to meet business needs, and maintaining accountability for software delivery across multiple critical enterprise services such as ERP, CRM, middleware, billing, and data analytics platforms.
This role will manage relationships with key staff augmentation and implementation partners to support flexible resource scaling and successful delivery of major transformation initiatives
About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
- At least15+ years of experience in software development, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role managing distributed teams.
- Proven experience leading large-scale enterprise digital transformations, including system implementations and integrations.
- At least 6+ years managing offshore teams delivering enterprise services like ERP, CRM, middleware, and data analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with staff augmentation partners and implementation vendors to support project delivery.
- Proven ability to manage complex cross-functional projects and align diverse stakeholder groups.
Technical Expertise
- Deep knowledge of SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and enterprise development practices.
- Hands-on experience with platforms such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Oracle eBS, Boomi, and data warehousing tools.
- Proficiency in Jira and other project management tools, with expertise in workflow optimization to enhance team productivity.
- Strong understanding of lead-to-cash processes, customer lifecycle management, and back-office finance functions.
Leadership Skills
- Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams in a matrixed structure.
- Ability to influence and partner with global product management teams and business stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term vision with short-term execution.

What will you be doing in this role?
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing team in India, including software engineers, QA resources, DevOps engineers, L2 administrators, and business system analysts/scrum masters.
- Design a matrixed organization structure with engineering squad leaders/dev leads reporting into projects led by US-based product and service owners.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation across India-based teams in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Noida.
- Ensure the team adheres to organizational standards for development, delivery, and operational support.
- Drive annual performance reviews, colleague evaluations, and development planning for team members.
Capacity Management & Staff Augmentation
- Establish and maintain robust capacity management processes to ensure resources are allocated effectively and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Proactively monitor team capacity and identify gaps that could impact project delivery timelines or quality.
- Develop and maintain relationships with staff augmentation vendors to enable flexible resource scaling for project surges or specialized skills.
- Oversee vendor performance and ensure alignment with project requirements, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
- Partner with leadership to determine when to use internal resources versus external partners for project delivery, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Engineering Delivery & Transformation Leadership
- Direct and oversee the delivery of multiple enterprise services, including:
- ERP/Finance (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle eBS)
- CRM (e.g., Salesforce)
- Middleware/Integration (e.g., Boomi)
- ETL tools
- Billing Platforms
- Data Analytics/Warehousing
- Collaborate with US-based product management teams and business stakeholders to define technical requirements, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality solutions that align with business objectives.
- Lead cross-functional transformation projects, ensuring timely delivery of key initiatives, including system implementations, integrations, and enterprise process enhancements.
- Implement and optimize Jira workflows to improve productivity, transparency, and alignment across teams.
- Define and enforce SDLC standards, including code quality, automated testing, CI/CD practices, and release management.
- Drive proactive identification of bottlenecks in the development process and implement solutions to maintain project momentum.
Strategic & Technical Contributions
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, solution architects, and platform/technical architects to align development efforts with enterprise roadmaps and technical strategies.
- Lead the creation of long-term development roadmaps for enterprise services, ensuring scalability, resilience, and alignment with strategic goals.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings through process optimization, vendor negotiations, and technology enhancements.
- Partner with product management teams to gather input and align development priorities with product roadmaps and strategic objectives.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee L2 application administration to ensure optimal system performance and prompt incident resolution.
- Ensure robust DevOps practices to support continuous delivery, infrastructure reliability, and security.
- Work with teams to ensure quality standards, regulatory compliance, and rigorous testing processes are met.
- Proactively manage and mitigate risks and issues across all development and operational activities.

The Enterprise Services team ensures the performance and availability of critical business systems while optimizing technologies to align with business processes, including transformation and integration activities. Enterprise Services is committed to accelerating delivery while making sure that all implementations bring value and avoid unintended consequences.
Hours of Work
- Full time, permanent
- Hybrid working model on-site up to 3 days/week
- Working core business hours to support EU and US (central time zone), with flexibility to adjust to various global time zones as needed.
