The City of Fort Worth Water Department is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Sr. Operational Data Analyst. This role is ideal for a data‑driven professional who thrives on improving operational efficiency, optimizing processes, and transforming complex utility data into actionable insights that support safe, reliable water and wastewater services for our community.
As a Sr. Operational Data Analyst – Water Utility, you will play a key role in evaluating, designing, and implementing performance improvements across the Utility. You’ll collaborate with engineering, operations, water quality, field services, and technology teams to streamline workflows, enhance data integration, and support strategic initiatives that strengthen utility performance.
This position is deeply embedded in the utility’s operational and data environment. You will work with a wide range of systems and datasets—including SCADA, water quality, GIS, asset management, customer service, and operational reporting tools—to identify opportunities for improvement and help the utility make smarter, data‑informed decisions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field
- Five (5) or more years of experience performing operational or systems analysis in a water/wastewater utility or comparable operational environment
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge, understanding, and experience with SCADA data, Water quality data, GIS, and other industry-related systems
- Experience working in the water or wastewater industry
The Sr. Operational Data Analyst – Water Utility job responsibilities include:
- Lead studies and develop recommendations to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery across water and wastewater operations
- Analyze operational, SCADA, water quality, GIS, and other utility datasets to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for optimization
- Partner with internal stakeholders to document workflows, define requirements, and support the implementation of new or enhanced systems and processes
- Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that support operational decision‑making and regulatory compliance
- Facilitate cross‑department collaboration to ensure processes align with organizational goals, industry best practices, and regulatory standards
- Support change management efforts, including training, communication, and documentation
- Serve as a subject‑matter resource on infrastructure improvement
