Application DBA, Sybase T-SQL - Assistant Vice President
Location: Pune, Maharashtra, India
Employment Type: Regular
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize Sybase ASE stored procedures, queries, and database objects
- Perform application-level DBA activities including performance tuning, query optimization, and index management
- Collaborate with application teams to support database design and data modelling
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues at the application layer
- Manage database connections, locking, and blocking analysis
- Support release deployments and schema changes in non-production and production environments
Required Skills:
- Strong Sybase ASE development experience (T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers)
- Application DBA experience — performance tuning, execution plans, lock management
- Familiarity with sysprocesses, monitoring, and MDADB reporting
- Ability to work closely with development and infrastructure teams
- Experience with scripting (Shell/Python) for automation is a plus
Recommended Qualifications:
- 8 to 12 years of relevant experience
- Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
- Ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects
- Experience with dependency management, change management, continuous integration testing tools, and audit/compliance requirements
- Extensive knowledge of software engineering and databases
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
