Senior Generative AI Developer/ Engineer (Innovation Lab)

The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Generative AI (Gen AI) Engineer and/ or Data Scientist to design, develop, test and deploy state-of-the-art scalable, efficient Gen AI solutions in cloud-native environments. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of developing and implementing Gen AI systems, including experience with fine-tuning, with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation) agent-based and other techniques.

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for design, software development, testing and deployment of Gen AI solutions, taking AI models from concept to production Large Language Models and other Machine Learning Techniques. You will collaborate closely with business partners and stakeholders to introduce and embrace these advanced technologies, elevating client experiences, delivering value to our customers, and ensuring regulatory compliance through cutting-edge technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hands-On Software Development:
  • Lead by example and actively contribute to the development and delivery of generative AI solutions, driving innovation and excellence within the team.
  • Design, build, and implement Gen AI solutions (transformer-based models) with a focus on fine-tuning, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and other techniques
  • Design and implement secure APIs, ensuring data protection and secure interaction with AI models.
• Hands-on Software Engineering and Delivery to Production:
  • Focus on solutioning from an engineering and architecture perspective, ensuring successful deployment into production environments, meeting high-quality standards and performance benchmarks.
  • Apply DevOps principles to maintain high-performance and scalable AI systems.
• Research and Development: Lead and participate in research activities to explore and advance state-of-the-art generative AI techniques and software development, including ability to research and adopt new techniques and approaches.
• Monitoring Ongoing Research: Stay actively engaged in monitoring ongoing research efforts, keeping abreast of emerging trends, and ensuring that the Generative AI team remains at the forefront of the field.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with various teams, including product managers, engineers, and data scientists, to integrate AI technologies into products and services to develop, deploy and monitor AI models in production environments.
• Quality Control: Ensure the quality and performance of generative AI models, conducting rigorous testing and evaluation.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business stakeholders across the bank to drive the adoption of generative AI and Large Language Models, identifying opportunities for innovation and value creation. 
   

Skills & Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of python (expert level - must), java (desired) and major Machine Learning/ Generative AI software libraries and frameworks

• Proven track record of building and deploying Gen AI solutions, particularly with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and related techniques.
• Deep understanding of transformer architectures and proficiency in PyTorch for developing and optimizing AI models.
• Expertise with NoSQL and vector databases (e.g., Redis, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) for data storage and retrieval.
• Experience with MLflow to manage machine learning workflows and pipelines.
• Proficiency in Git for version control and collaboration in development workflows.
• Experience with Kubernetes-based continuous delivery, utilizing Jenkins, Tekton, and Docker to automate and streamline deployments.
• Focus on secure implementation practices and security self-assessments for open-source projects.
• Strong proven delivery track record.
• In-depth knowledge of multiple programming languages, testing frameworks and Agile software development.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in high tech or financial industry is beneficial but not mandatory.
   

Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with OpenAPI for API documentation and Streamlit for building interactive web apps.
• Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring AI system.
• LangChain or LlamaIndex: Familiarity with these frameworks for integrating LLMs with external data sources.
• Familiarity with C++ for performance optimization, especially in high-performance computing and resource-intensive AI models.
• Experience with Graphs packages or/and databases (python-igraph, networkx, Neo4j)
• Experience designing and securing APIs to ensure safe interactions with AI systems.
• Proficiency for web-based AI application development and integrating front-end applications with AI services and APIs.
• Solid experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes for deploying containerized applications.
