Senior Architect & Technical Delivery Lead - Inventory Orchestration (IO) Platform

Citi is undergoing a multi-year technology transformation, aimed at simplifying and modernizing its core inventory and automation platforms. A cornerstone of this initiative is the next-generation Inventory Orchestration (IO) platform, designed to deliver scale, automation, and resilience across the enterprise in a secure and compliant manner. This platform aims to establish standard patterns and reusable components through application blueprints, reduce operational complexity, and ensure seamless integration across systems while adhering to Citi's rigorous standards for security, data protection, and regulatory compliance.

We are looking for a Senior Architect & Technical Delivery Lead to guide this transformation both strategically and tactically. This role blends technical architecture leadership, hands-on program execution, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement. You will define the architectural vision, lead delivery across global teams, and collaborate with business and product partners to achieve Citi's modernization goals. What you'll do

Architecture & Engineering Leadership:

• Define and drive the architectural vision for the IO platform aligned with Citi's modernization strategy.
• Design secure, scalable, cloud-native, and event-driven systems using technologies like Kafka, automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible, and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes,
• OpenShift).
• Guide the implementation of microservices architectures, including re-platforming legacy systems.
• Ensure application designs follow best practices for performance, security, and resilience.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical deep dives, and enforce coding standards and engineering excellence.
• Maintain oversight of infrastructure and conduct capacity planning exercises.

Delivery & Program Oversight:

• Drive full lifecycle project delivery from requirements and design through testing and release.
• Identify dependencies across agile and waterfall projects and manage concurrent initiatives.
• Coordinate globally distributed teams and manage prioritization, resource allocation, and risk
• mitigation.
• Streamline delivery processes by eliminating manual toil and improving automation across SDLC stages.
• Ensure platform compliance with Citi's security, audit, and regulatory frameworks.

Stakeholder & Business Engagement:

• Partner with business units, developers, and end-users to gather and refine engineering requirements.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, influencing design and development strategy.
• Navigate competing viewpoints through constructive dialog and data-driven decision making.
• Regularly track metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement mechanisms to maintain alignment
• with business objectives.
• Team Leadership & Talent Development:
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, creating a pipeline of future technical leaders.- Allocate work and coach developers and analysts across delivery teams.
• Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and inclusive engineering culture.

What we need from you

• Solid relevant experience in software engineering, systems architecture, or technical delivery roles
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and serverless computing
• Deep knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka, Spark) and scalable microservice architectures
• Familiarity with SQL/Oracle and modern front-end frameworks
• Experience with Business Process Engineering (BPMN, DMN) is not essential but advantageous a
• Demonstrated ability to operate with autonomy while managing large, complex systems and delivery pipelines
• Agile project management experience and strong organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
• Strong ethical judgment and a commitment to operational risk awareness and transparency
• Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required
• Experience working across global teams in a large enterprise environment
• Stakeholder Communication:- Serve as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms to ensure alignment and clear communication.
• Demonstrated experience in Agile methodologies, including planning, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, and execution of sprints. Ensure that delivery teams operate efficiently within Agile frameworks to accelerate time-to-market.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor teams of developers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
