The Structuring Desk Head manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval. May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Typically, a direct report to a C16 role and function as an integral member of the functional leadership team within a country/site location, job family, or line of business.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Citi design, build and maintain world class products, tailored to fit the challenging needs of a diverse client base, to create economic value and to be systemically responsible
  • The ideal candidate should have proven success in structuring and demonstrate a successful track record of leadership. The role requires interpersonal and leadership skills to build consensus on strategy and execution.
  • Leading and implementing global product strategy:
  • Develop short and long-term strategy in conjunction with trading and sales partners for the business to achieve revenue growth targets, ensuring an expansion of market share and a broadening of the product solutions in line with organizational objectives
  • Achieve ambitious goals in market and wallet share from the client franchise
  • Ensure Citi’s products are positioned as the leader in the market
  • Partner with other key ICG businesses and Functions
  • Focused client interaction and consulting
  • Works in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
  • Works to execute a strict expense management discipline
  • Builds a culture of responsible finance and ethics
  • Ensures close partnership with Compliance to lead productive interaction and dialogue with key regulators
  • Ensures partnership with Finance to deliver the annual financial planning / budgeting process
  • Leads across products to facilitate optimal resource allocation decisions
  • Human Capital Management:
  • Works closely with HR and Product Heads in all the relevant processes
  • Ensuring the people strategy and organizational capabilities are aligned to business strategy
  • Management of pyramid and officer title distribution
  • Governance of Headcount, Hiring, workforce planning, redundancy programs, internal mobility, diversity initiatives, etc.
  • Mid-year and Year end appraisal processes; compensation
  • Graduate recruitment, training and other related processes
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Successful understanding and leadership of a geographically diverse business
  • Demonstrated intellectual grasp of the industry and with the ability to anticipate and lead the organizational response to future changes
  • Ability to translate vision into executable plans
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Credibility and gravitas to lead, motivate and influence a diverse population across geographies, products and matrix reporting lines
  • Advanced problem solving skills; pragmatic approach to ensure limited resources are directed appropriately


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree and managerial experience
