Meet the Team

Cisco IOS XR PI India group is responsible for architecting, crafting, developing and supporting solutions for some of the world's largest service providers and hyper scalers that are constantly evolving to meet customer business requirements. The team owns key infra components in the NOS and is in charge of router security, observability and application hosting frameworks. This development team gets interleaved in every stage of SDLC starting with requirements collection from product managers all the way to deployment, integration & support of the solution involving interactions with a plethora of customers.

Your Impact

Engineer will be part of development team which is responsible for Feature development, testing & integration into customer environments. Many-a-times encouraged to be SPOC for a particular area of a component. Expected to have regular interactions with product management teams, testing teams and customer teams to translate requirements into working solutions. Develop expertise in Networking, Security & OS protocols. Learn Cisco development/unit-test environments. Issue triage/support/monitoring/resolution.

• Sophisticated experienced professional using guidelines and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.

• Works independently but receives minimal guidance and direction from leader then determines the best approach to accomplish work.

• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

• Understands project and/or department needs and establishes relationships with appropriate cross-functional collaborators to gather input, collect information and complete work steps.

• May lead projects from end-to-end through delegation, review, and getting results holistically.

• May lead medium features from technical design through completion.

• May supply to a defined software engineering roadmap.

• Identifies and recommends improvements to the software development lifecycle and standards in agile engineering.

• Leads delivery of high-quality build of features and work you're doing.

• Sees opportunities for multiple products to work together to bring value for customers.

• Integrates product sense as it relates to compose of the product (market awareness, production adoption, competition) and supervises related metrics.

• Writes functional clean code and unit tests with no mentorship. • Maintains and improves solutions by fixing complicated errors, raising risks, and escalating issues where vital.

• Identifies immediate and larger scope problems through detailed code reviews. • Tests and reviews code to optimize scale, velocity, and reliability of deliverables. • Contributes to threat modeling of a feature.

• Supervises the production environment and works multi-functionally to identify problems and track production systems.

• May serve as partner concern point for on-call issues.

• Leads postmortem and writes root cause analysis.

• Expert on multiple functional components. • Shares knowledge across teams, both informally and formally (e.g., ad-hoc basis, internal presentations, blogs, newsletters).

• Coordinates across teams to estimate times and complete projects according to specification and user requirements.

• Supervises milestones, progress and provides ongoing updates and remediation plans to cross-functional partners.

• Mentor peers or more junior team members.

• Assists other engineers through code reviews, documentation, and technical guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years.

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE/EC or technical equivalent.

• Commanding knowledge and hands-on experience in C/C++

• Proven understanding of GenAI capabilities and AI-powered software development

• Sound knowledge of operating system concepts, computer networking, multithreaded programming and system programming on UNIX based systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Network Security is a plus

• Exposure to GoLang/Python is a plus

• Exposure to L2/L3 protocols, Optical networking
