As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure, focusing heavily on Azure services. You will work closely with various teams to ensure the robust, secure, and efficient operation of our platform. This role requires a deep understanding of Azure services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines with GitHub Actions. Your expertise will be crucial in driving the adoption of best practices in platform engineering and cloud infrastructure management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure using Azure services, with a focus on networking and PaaS offerings.
  • Develop and maintain Azure infrastructure, including Virtual Networks (VNETs), Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewalls, Load Balancers.
  • Utilize Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate the deployment and management of Azure resources.
  • Develop, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate the build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring efficient and secure code releases.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines with application development workflows and ensure seamless deployments.
  • Implement automation solutions to streamline platform operations and improve the efficiency of cloud resource management.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance, scalability, and reliability of cloud-based applications and services.
  • Work closely with software engineering teams to ensure platform solutions meet business and technical requirements.
  • Ensure platform compliance with industry standards and regulations, including security, privacy, and data protection requirements.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for platform optimization and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Competencies & Role/Education Requirements:

  • Experience: Several years of experience in cloud infrastructure design and management, with a strong focus on Azure services, including networking and PaaS.
  • Azure Networking: In-depth knowledge of Azure networking components and services, such as VNETs, NSGs, Azure Firewalls, Load Balancers, and Azure Front Door.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Extensive experience with Terraform for IaC, including designing, deploying, and managing cloud resources.
  • CI/CD Expertise: Proven experience in developing and managing CI/CD pipelines preferably using GitHub Actions.
  • Azure PaaS: good understanding of SQL and experience with Azure PaaS services, including SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and Azure Functions.
  • Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. Python, Powershell) for automation and cloud resource management.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentorship: Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, Terraform Associate) are highly desirable.
