Vice President, Data and Software Engineering, Digital & Technology VN

Location: Viet Nam; Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Data Engineering and Software Engineering teams, including in-house, vendor, and outsourced engineers.

• Own engineering strategy, target architecture, roadmap, standards, and delivery governance across digital banking platforms, data platforms, APIs, microservices, web, mobile, and backend services.

• Build and operate scalable data platforms, data pipelines, lakehouse/data warehouse capabilities, and batch/near-real-time data processing to support analytics, AI, reporting, and regulatory needs.

• Ensure strong data quality, metadata, lineage, security, privacy, access control, and governance practices across data products and engineering delivery.

• Drive software delivery for digital banking domains such as onboarding, LOS, payments, IAM, SSO, Integration, Fraud, servicing, and internal operations platforms.

• Establish and continuously improve SDLC, Agile delivery, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, code review, configuration management, release management, and production handover standards.

• Ensure platforms meet requirements for scalability, resilience, performance, observability, availability, cybersecurity, compliance, and cost efficiency.

• Partner closely with Product, Business, Risk, Compliance, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Operations, Data Science, and Analytics teams to translate business priorities into reliable technology solutions.

• Manage vendor and outsourcing performance, technical quality, engineering productivity, delivery capacity, service levels, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices to improve digital business capabilities, speed-to-market, platform stability, data accessibility, and customer experience.

 

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• 10-15 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, platform engineering, or technology delivery, preferably in Digital Banking, FinTech, e-commerce, telecom, or other digital business organizations.

• At least 5 years in engineering leadership roles, managing medium-to-large engineering teams and working with both in-house and external delivery resources.

• Strong experience in digital platform architecture, cloud-native applications, microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, integration patterns, and distributed systems.

• Strong hands-on or architecture-level understanding of data platforms, data lakes/lakehouse, data warehouse, ETL/ELT, streaming, data modeling, data quality, metadata, lineage, and analytical workloads.

• Good understanding of modern engineering stacks such as Java, Golang, Node.js, Python, React/Angular, REST/GraphQL APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, Git, Maven/Gradle, CI/CD, containers, and Kubernetes.

• Experience with DevSecOps, secure SDLC, automated testing, observability, SRE practices, performance tuning, release/change management, and production support governance.

• Solid understanding of banking technology, digital channels, lending/LOS, payments, customer onboarding, core/integration systems, regulatory reporting, IT risk, data protection, and data privacy.

• Proven ability to manage vendors, budgets, capacity planning, delivery risks, technical debt, engineering productivity, and stakeholder expectations in a regulated environment.

• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and coaching capabilities; able to operate effectively with senior business and technology leaders.
