Lead the design, validation, and evolution of next-generation IP routing solutions, advancing innovation across SR-MPLS and SRv6 technologies. This role contributes to delivering scalable, high-quality networking solutions for service provider and cloud environments. The position plays a key role in shaping routing architecture and overall product quality.

How you will make an impact:

• Drive end-to-end validation and testing strategies for IP routing features, including SR-MPLS, SRv6, BGP, EVPN, and L3VPN
• Lead development of test architecture, automation strategies, and quality engineering practices for large-scale routing platforms
• Design and maintain automated test frameworks and test cases using Python to expand test coverage and efficiency
• Collaborate with development, product management, and system engineering teams to support feature delivery
• Define and execute test plans covering functional, scale, performance, and interoperability scenarios
• Mentor engineers to support technical development and consistency in engineering practices
• Influence product quality through design reviews, defect analysis, and risk identification

The must haves:

• Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in networking with a focus on IP routing and protocols
• Application of SR-MPLS, SRv6, BGP, EVPN, and L3VPN technologies
• Experience developing automated test cases using Python within networking or distributed systems environments
• Application of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, and switching
• Experience working with test automation frameworks and CI/CD practices
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives and collaborate across teams

Nice to haves:

• Application of AI concepts and Copilot-assisted automation development
• Experience working with network virtualization and cloud-native networking environments
• Familiarity with container technologies and orchestration platforms
• Exposure to telemetry, observability, and performance analytics tools
• Experience working with service provider or large-scale enterprise networks
• Familiarity with traffic generation tools and network benchmarking
• Education: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is C$ 89,100- C$142,300. 

The annual pay range for this position in California, US is $127,100- $203,000. 

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
