Description du rôle

L’équipe d’introduction de nouveaux produits est à la recherche d’un candidat dynamique pour rejoindre le groupe responsable du développement et de l’amélioration des tests des produits photoniques. Le candidat retenu travaillera sur les produits photoniques de la nouvelle plateforme RLS (En apprendre plus) et sera responsable de valider des nouvelles stations de tests, possiblement de développer des nouveaux tests sur des prototypes ainsi que faire des améliorations des tests existants. Les tâches suivantes seront sous sa responsabilité: analyser la répétabilité des tests sur les nouvelles stations, développer des séquences de test automatisés, analyser les résultats de tests, concevoir des modifications aux stations de tests photonique, analyser des circuits électroniques et optiques.

Responsabilités

  • Valider des stations de tests de la nouvelle génération de produits photoniques
  • Développer des tests automatisés en laboratoire sur des cartes photoniques
  • Développer des outils et des guides de déverminage
  • Participer au développement des outils logiciels
  • Validation des nouveaux équipements optiques (laser, atténuateurs, matrices, etc.)

Exigences

  • Inscrit dans un baccalauréat en génie électrique
  • Connaissances en design électronique : composants, schémas, PCB, procédés de fabrication, etc.
  • Habileté à saisir des concepts techniques et bonnes compétences de déduction
  • Aptitude pour le déverminage et l’analyse de problèmes
  • Maîtrise de l'anglais et du français, niveau fonctionnel, tant à l'oral qu'à l'écrit

New Product Introduction – Photonic Test Engineer (Co-op)

Location: 2351 Alfred Nobel Blvd #300, Saint-Laurent, QC H4S 2A9
Duration: 8 months (possibility of extension)
Work Mode: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, primarily on-site, with occasional hybrid flexibility with potential travel opportunities

About the Role

Join our New Product Introduction (NPI) team and become part of the group responsible for developing and enhancing testing processes for cutting-edge photonic products. You’ll work on Ciena’s next-generation Reconfigurable Line System (RLS) platform (Learn more here) and play a key role in validating new test stations, designing automated test sequences, and improving existing processes.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an Electrical Engineering student with strong technical problem-solving skills and an interest in photonics, optical systems, and telecommunications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate testing stations for next-generation photonic products
  • Develop automated laboratory tests for photonic boards
  • Create debugging tools and user guides
  • Collaborate on the development of software tools for testing
  • Validate new optical equipment (including lasers, attenuators, switches, etc.)
  • Analyze electronic and optical circuits to improve test efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Solid understanding of electronic design: components, schematics, PCB design, manufacturing processes
  • Strong technical comprehension and deductive reasoning skills
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and problem analysis
  • Functional proficiency in both English and French (spoken and written)

Preferred Skills (Assets)

  • Programming experience in C or C#
  • Familiarity with the NI software suite (LabView, TestStand, CVI)
  • Hands-on experience with optical measurements
  • Foundational knowledge in telecommunications and photonics

Pay Range:

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
